  this is utterly ridiculous.... .

  the more i research this particular subject, the more flip-flops i uncover.

  it seems the fds cant even make up their minds regarding what happened in 1918 (or should i say 1919?).

  Is the Bible from Men, NOT God?

  Just reading the Bible with an unbiased, rational mind convinced me that the Bible is full of BS.

  Example:

  * Earth created in 6 days

  * Contradictory accounts of creation (Gen chap 1 & 2)

  * Talking snake and donkey

  * Beating your slaves ok as long that he doesnt die within 3 days

  * Kidnapping and raping women ok (Deut chap 20-22)

  * Men allowed to have premarital sex but women to be stoned.

  * Poligamy ok but not in NT but only men were allowed.

  * Ok to murder and plunder in OT but not in NT

  Also there is so much contradiction doctrinally

  * Earth to be destroyed.....to last forever....bible says both

  * consciousness after death.....unconsciousness after death...bible says both

  * Revenge good.....revenge bad.....bible says both (read Davids last words to solomon)

  * Jesus is god.....father is greater....bible teaches both

  * Salvation through works.....salvation through faith....bible says both

  Also consider the confusion about which canon is the right one. Catholics, protestants among others have different approved canons.

  "It is the victims right to approach authorities" The weak excuse used by the society

  we have seen that the society falls back on the line "it is the victims right to approach the authorities" during all the abuse claims.. they use this excuse to try and defend the passive lack of action in failing to report suspected cases of abuse.. a comparison came to mind:.

  if we came across a person lying in the street who says they were hit by a car, would we say "it is your absolute right to call the paramedics and police"?.

  or would we take the initiative and call those authorities ourselves to help the person?.

  I personally know an elder close friend of mine who was deleted for telling the victims family that they should go to the police about their son being physically assaulted by another jw. When the elders found out, they went to the victims family to discourage them from going to the police. They told the family they cannot go to the police. The elders wrote to the service department recommending his deletion which was approved. This elder was in shock as how they can print saying elders do not tell victims not to report to authorities yet he was deleted for encouraging them to do so. When this elder called the Circuit Overseer, he was told that although victims can go to the police, elders must remind them of the reproach this will bring upon the Organization. Those elders were not reprimanded or deleted for telling the family not to go to the police. Yet he was removed.

  This shows that whats in print and what happens in real life are very different. All the paperwork of his deletion is kept in the Cong files. I wonder if those files could one day be subpoenaed to prove that victims truly are discouraged from reporting abuse or any other crime for that matter. Also those files will prove what really happens when an elder encourages victims to call authorities.

  BTW: This family did go to the police about the abuse. The former elder moved to another state, I can locate him if his testimony would help or be relevant. Im not sure if he would cooperate though.

  Death and Judgement Day

  i'm having a hard time with this.

  what does the bible say what happens when you die?

  when jesus was on the cross he said to the man that when he dies he will be with jesus in heaven.

  The subject of death is contradictory in the Bible. There is no clear answer.

  For example:

  Gen 3:19 man just returns to the ground ...... game over.

  But then you have the Bible saying that when Rachel died her soul left her body. Ecc 12 says the spirit returns to God. The same book says the dead are conscious of nothing. Psalms 146 says your thoughts perish once dead. Ezekiel 18 says the soul dies.

  On the other hand you have Samuel rising from the dead world underground and speaking to Saul after dying and what he prophesied to Saul came true. You also have Jesus parable about the rich man being conscious and tormented after death. Revelation says the souls of the dead were crying for justice under the altar.

  So in conclusion the Bible is so confusing about the afterlifts ridiculous to believe that the bible has the answer.

  let me explain:.

  broke: the gb keeps their members in poverty by condemning higher education and demanding that all their time should be spent peddling the wt propaganda and going to all the meetings.

  BROKE......DUMB......& STUPID

  Let me explain:

  BROKE: The GB keeps their members in poverty by condemning higher education and demanding that ALL their time should be spent peddling the WT propaganda and going to all the meetings. Anyone that seems to be working to grow or improve their financial situation is seen as materialistic and selfish. You will be made to feel guilty for saving up money or planning for the future or GOD FORBID have a college fund for your children. This has created a culture of poverty, free loading from the government and living paycheck to paycheck. Those that weren't born in but joined the cult as adults have the advantage of very likely having gone to College and exercising a skilled trade and enjoying a pension and retirement. Those are the ones that generally speaking, are doing good financially in the cult. To these ones the Governing Body did not have the opportunity to curse them to a lifetime of poverty and want.

  DUMB: By the word dumb here, I refer to being mute. In other words the Governing Body wants people in their cult to just SHUT THEIR MOUTHS UP regarding the child molestations, false prophecies, 607 date, destroying family unity through shunning, the overlapping generations, Beth Sarim, and many other irrational inconsistencies too many to number here.

  STUPID: Yes the Governing Body wants it's members to be stupid or ignorant about their policies and history. For example the Australian Royal Commission, not one word has yet to be said by the GB to the members about this situation. The donation arrangement in 1989 where the real reason was to avoid paying taxes and not what they told the Congregations, the Mexico/Malawi double standards, the reason for building the mansion in San Diego Beth Sarim and the property being deeded to the prophets (you can't make that up), the child abuse lawsuits and settlements, the Warwick contamination site, the hidden barrels of toxic waste buried in Walkill by Watchtower etc etc etc. NONE of these issues are known by the regular rank and file!! The governing body wants their members to be ignorant about these and many many more issues.

  So there we have it....The Governing Body only wants people in their cult that are:

  BROKE.........DUMB........ & ........STUPID

  1917 - What REALLY happened?

  regarding what happened post russell in 1917, if you ask a jw, they'll say it was the fault of the ousted board members who were 'self willed'.

  if you ask an ex-jw, they'll say it was a 'power grab' by rutherford.

  This is another story that watchtower tries to whitewash in history. All the facts are not presented and instead they paint the 4 other directors as haughty, proud and power hungry.

  Here are some facts that the watchtower hides from it's members.

  1. C.T. Russel had left a last will and testament where he clearly stated that the Watchtower Society is to be run by a board of directors of 7 WITH EQUAL AUTHORITY.

  2. C.T. Russel also named the 7 directors to handle the affairs of the Society after his death. J.F. Rutherford WAS NOT in that list!! He was only in a secondary list of alternates.

  3. C.T. Russel also stated in his will that an Editorial Committee of 5 members were to supervise, write and authorize the articles in the Journal.

  4. C.T. Russel also stated that NO NEW BOOKS were to be written, only journals such as the Watchtower Magazine.

  WHAT HAPPENED?

  A.H. MacMillan inherited the shares of Russel which were the vast majority. So whomever he chose that's who would be appointed. He had declined the suggestion of being President by Russel. So the self proclaimed "Judge" became President.

  However, Rutherford started making decisions without consulting the board. He even published a book without the knowledge of the board (Finished Mystery) This was a clear violation of what Russel wanted. The board got very upset and started to oppose him and talking about removing Rutherford. So Rutherford used his legal education and kicked them out! The book Faith in the March even states that the police were called! He then replaced them with 4 ass kissing yes men.

  The legality that was used was to oust the Governing Body or board of directors was that the 4 directors were not elected in NY only in PA. The problem with that was that NEITHER WAS RUTHERFORD NOR THE OTHER 2!

  SO in reality Rutherford did not show respect for the majority of the "Governing Body. He DID NOT show humility and yield to the decision of the majority or God's Organization. He did not "wait on Jehovah" as Witnesses are told when the Organization today or the elders commit injustices or make decisions that we don't like. He RAN AHEAD of Jehovah's Chariot and took matters in his own hands and literally stole the power from the Board of directors.

  The Watchtower paints the 4 directors (the majority) as selfish, haughty and power hungry. All they wanted was that the Society be run with a board of directors instead of 1 man making all the decisions like a cult leader.

  Those 4 directors were right although the Watchtower will never admit it. In 1976 the President lost his power and it was now distributed evenly among the members of the Governing Body. That's what those 4 wanted in the first place! Yet they continue to vilify those 4 directors!! Can't they see it?!

  If any person today did a FRACTION of what Rutherford did by opposing the Governing Body or the local elders....he would be labelled an apostate, running ahead of God's Organization, a Korah, and finally disfellowshipped.

  This chapter in the history of the Watchtower shows the hypocrisy and double standards of the Watchtower. There are many more scandals where the average member is unaware of.

  JWs Harass their old members

  while i am presently under training, i was looking at the definition of harassment in the work place according to the ontario (canada) government and found that, among the listed items, some of these could very well apply to the jws!.

  preventing a person from expressing himself or herself: yelling at the person; threatening; constantly interrupting that person; prohibiting the person from speaking to others.. making rude, degrading or offensive remarks.. discrediting the person by spreading malicious gossip or rumours, ridiculing him/her, humiliating him/her, calling into question his/her convictions or his/her private life, shouting abuse at him/her.. isolating the person by no longer talking to him or her, denying or ignoring his or her presence, distancing him or her from others.. destabilizing the person by making fun of his or her beliefs, values, political and/or religious choices, and mocking his or her weak points..

  Stephane,

  I was also in a training for my job and a class I attended was about harrassment. I was thinking the exact same thing you were thinking....that JW's harass their members!

  The Company I work for has a specific procedure to report harassment and emotional abuse even if it implicates those in authority. The Watchtower tells their members to just obey and if offended or harassed ....drop it and don't talk about it.

  I thought it was very interesting that "worldly" companies have more respect for the opinions, dignity and feelings of others than the Watchtower Organization.

  2017 Yearbook released

  overall the numbers are better than last year (1.8% growth compared to 1.5% last year -- as i predicted ;-) ) with an increase in all major figures including 1300 more congregations (i assume this is not physical kingdom halls?).

  Special Pioneers were cut worldwide. Only oldtimers remain. This explains the 10% reduction in expenses.

  Just in Mexico and Central America alone, 1,200 special pioneers were given the pink slip last year.

  Gilead doesn't produce new missionaries or special pioneers. They just send those already in special full time service.
