What happens when you argue with JW's?
by Terry ini can't claim 100% recall, certainly.
jw: "they are imperfect.
jw: "i don't know of any other place to go that has something better.".

Terry, i know what you mean. I have had nearly identical discussions with my grown daughter, over and over. it is like we aren't even speaking the same language. It just doesn't penetrate. She has a mental block. Just a deer in the headlights look she gives me.
Love is blind and they are in love with the idea of living forever on a paradise earth. They like believing they have the truth and are in a special relationship with god.
They also totally buy the Watchtower Societies argument that if someone has issues with the organization that there is something wrong with the person, not the organization. It is a cant win situation with some people...very frusterating indeed.

I am sorry to hear about all the feces hitting the fan blades.
This must be horrible for you. It all depends on what you want to do. If you are going to leave the jw's anyway or do you want or need to stay for the time being, this is what you need to consider.
We are here for you.
Sometimes the elders are harder on the sisters. They understand about men fornicating, but when a female does it, it's simply not tolerated. Your fate will probably be decided by three men in the back room of the kingdom hall, unfortunately.
You may want to refuse to meet with them. They are not gods representatives, you know. You don't owe them anything. They will ask you details about your sexual relationship. I have been through this. It is all unnecessary.
This is hard right now, but you will get through this. Don't do anything foolish.

This may be your best post ever, and you have been sitting on it for 8 years!
(I plan on using some of these arguments...much thanks.)

Anyone else in "limbo?"
by KitchenWitDinah ini've been out of the organization for about 4 years now, but have been in limbo since i've left.
the more i learn about world religions, the less apt i am to accept anything as truth, since there are so many similarities between so many religions.
i know many cultures have flood myths involving 40-ish days and 8 survivors (the chinese written language has many surprising allusions to biblical stories).

Welcome Dinah. You will be out of limbo soon. Keep learning with an open mind.

My Humble Opinion of This Forum
by turtleturtle infirst off, i love frequenting this forum.
it has given me the opportunity to truly put jw stuff to the test and i thank everyone for their helpful responses.. however, i have noticed a couple things.. 1) the use of the word "troll" is completely childish.
this is no different than the name calling used by jws (e.g.

We all come here because we have been hurt by Watchtower lies.
We need help to heal, the only way to do that is by discussing and learning the facts.
This place should be a soft place to land, ( as Dr. Phil would say).
Personal insults, disrespectful and offendindg remarks don't belong here.
People should not be fearful to post because of attacks that may come their way.

Mistakes about Dates for the End
by Bob_NC inwho has read a recent wt article consenting that "expectations" about the end have not proven to be true?
the article goes on to say that this has not dampened our hope for when the end does come.
the article quotes habbakuk about jehovah's day not being late.

Another thought, Christians are to preach the good news of the kingdom, not about possible dates for Armageddon.

The analogy about the lookout tower watcher is an insult. No one puts their life on hold waiting for a fire.
The Watchtower encouraged all not to get an education, to remain single, not to pursue a career. People made extremely important life decisions based on the fact that Armageddon was right around the corner.
The Watchtower Society simply refuses to take accountability for their false prophecy. Bastards!

Greetings from a new member
by EdenOne ingreetings everyone.. just wanted to say hello to everyone, being a new member from western europe.. some may know me from another forum (eden, from e-jehovas-witnesses.com), but most don't, so this is my little intro.. male, in my early 40's.
still an active member in good standing of a jehovah's witnesses congregation in my country, and honestly not planning to change that status, despite my unorthodox beliefs.
sometime i will elaborate the reason why i don't feel i must leave.
