i'm in a crazy situation.
about a year ago, i was going to get baptized.
it was all planned and arranged until ttatt was learned.
For one thing, the elders won't let you get baptised unless you are doing well and getting in service. My nephews were both not allowed to get baptised because their hair wasnt short enough!!!
As long as you screw up when you go over the questions for baptism with the elders and maybe tell the elders that you don't feel ready, there isn't much your dad can do, is there?
this is what a brother said at the meeting today.
he has been working there as a volunteer.
but my impression was that the toxic waste debacle set the project back seriously.

somebody mentioned in a recent topic that they had a conversation with a former elder whose breaking point was when the overlapping generation was highlighted in recent times and how he would never serve again until somebody gave him a scriptural reason to believe it.
i am in a similar position.
i have gone in the last 18 months from taking the wt study, leading fs groups, and doing talks on the mtngs to doing almost nothing, as i resigned a little over a year ago as an elder due to a combination of family responsibilities and huge doubts.
yeah, they'll leave it all, their home, savings, etc.. never mind helping out their struggling children who never had a chance.. fuck this organization and everything it stands for when its members think god will favor them more by willing everything to a corporation instead of their own struggling seed..

Another thought... If somewhere down the road you should have children, are you willing to accept the fact that she and the child will not take a blood transfusion in any event. They are taught if they take blood, Jehovah will not resurrect them if they die. Read up on this dangerous religion cult. She may leave it temporarily for you and then return to it, upsetting both your lives.

She will have to get you to join the cult or she will have to leave all her family and friends to be with you. The pressure will destroy the relationship Go find someone who is free to love you. She has already indicated she prefers the cult to you. Take your leave!
my middle brother called me a couple of hours ago.
