That's the whole point of religion...you can't know. That's why they will continue to make the big bucks along with psychics and all other forms of paranormality. people are afraid of what they can't see, yet unafraid to fork out the cash to someone/entity that says they can. People want to be deluded because it's easier and more dramatized that facing reality.

How do you know when the Governing Body speaks for itself, and when it is supposed to speak for Jehovah?
by dgp inin the catholic church, the pope is considered "infallible" when he speaks ex cathedra.
that is to say, he is not infallible when he speaks about things that don't have to do with religion.
for example, he may say whatever he pleases about economics, but no one will hold that catholic economists will have sinned against god if they consider that the pope is wrong.. the important point here is that the pope is thought to be infallible only when he speaks about matters strictly related to the church.. the wikipedia has this:.

Wording of "mentally diseased" press release - feedback?
by cedars inas some of you may know, i am working with trailerfitter and cantleave in helping amelia with her efforts to complain about the latest "apostates are mentally diseased" article.
she has an appointment with local police tomorrow afternoon, as she has lodged a complaint under the 'hate crimes' act.
it has been suggested that this issue may merit some media coverage, and with this in mind i have prepared a draft press release.

"The purpose of the article was evidently to block any current Witnesses from discovering the truth about the organisation’s history, and its increasingly discredited beliefs."
Can you pick another word other than "evidently"?...lol
Also, in that article, there was a footnote on the bottom of that page that gave the definition of an "apostate". Does anyone know where that definition came from and how it compares to the definition in the Oxford English Dictionary (industry standard)?

my grandmother claims annointed, she has been partaking for as long as ive been alive. when i asked her how she knew she was one...she simply said that it was because there was no desire in her to live forever on earth.
an old friend of mine who partook said that while he was driving from new york to florida, he had a vision of ruling in heaven that he can't explain in words. he said he was so freaked out that he then felt the presence of an angel in the backseat of his car assuring him that "everything is going to be alright".
anyone else have or have heard anything like this?

'Apostates' being labelled 'mentally diseased'. Is discrimination against mentally disabled people by using it as a 'hate crime' term?
by punkofnice insorry if i'm not expressing myself very well but i wasn't allowed an education due to wbt$ regulations.. what i'm trying to say is that the wbt$ using the term 'mentally diseased' as an insulting term against those fictitious 'apostates' they want everyone to 'hate', is surely very discriminatory against those that have a genuine mental illness.. it's like calling a white person that has caught a suntan the 'n' word isn't it?
offensive, inappropriate and utterly destructive.. in the uk the press can be pretty sensitive about such name calling that implies that mental disease is somehow to be used as a hate crime word.. is it worth writing to the press to complain about such discrimination?.

A "bible study" of someone in my hall has been commenting in the meetings fairly regularly. She raised her hand on sunday and was called on. She asked a question to the conductor, "what kind of false teachings are they promoting?" in response to one of his general statements to the audience. The conductor said they use things like "hellfire" and "trinity" to to stumble others, which I thought was a BS answer. The COBE immediately raised his hand, was called on, and said apostates are known for being "overly-critical" of the organization.
Funny stuff

One scripture that got me thinking on my way to leaving...
by MrFreeze inwhen i was still in, i read a scripture that i think got me started on my route to leaving and not buying into the bs anymore.. for the longest time (ever since i was baptized) i wasn't exactly the beacon of a model brother in what i was really doing.
you could say i was leading a "double life".
my jw persona was holier than thou.

I think "where else will you go" is a trap. if you answer, "nowhere" or "i don't know", they beilieve you are no longer interested in "the truth" and are an apostate. If you answer "somewhere else", you are an apostate. Either way you answer this question you are an apostate. Perhaps the best answer would be, "thanks for stopping by".

by Silent_Scream init has been said "the way to control people is to control information.
" it's very true in the jw org.
thats why on bible study sessions, people are usually excited to learn and see things in their bible they've never seen before!

Armaggeddon may occur invisibly
by mankkeli inat the end of today's meeting, some over-righteous friends were discussing the various possibilities of armaggeddon occuring invisibly, considering the explanation given within the "parousia" domain on the invisible presence of christ in 1914. they reffered to some articles which i am presently looking through.. .
while he was sitting upon the mount of olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence [pa?rou?sia, greek] and of the conclusion of the system of things?.
"in our day, then, what is meant by the biblical expression the presence of our lord jesus christ?

Wow, this bit of info surprised even me!!!
by LeKook ini just spoke to a witness friend (has been a witness 25+ years), who said that the elders in her congregation told her that witnesses had better be prepared to begin going door to door, not to announce "good news", but to denounce people who refuse to accept "the trvth".
has anyone else heard about this?
i thought it was a joke at first, but she said no, that's where the elders told her things were headed.
