What leads a person to think they are inspired by God?
by jwfacts inthere seems no end of people claiming to be inspired.
there are numerous holy books claiming to have been handed to their writers by god.
these days a person writing their own holy book is likely to be met with scepticism (unless you are a scientologist), so people tend to claim to be inspired to interpret older holy books.

If disfellowshipping was abolished...
by iamwhoiam in...what would it accomplish?.
a few thoughts running through my head.... 1. the kingdom hall would be open to people who were originally df'd for apostasy, and therefore opening the door for debate without consequence (e.g.
people spreading thier ideas freely within the cong without fear of being df'd/banned).

1. The kingdom hall would be open to people who were originally df'd for apostasy, and therefore opening the door for debate without consequence (e.g. people spreading thier ideas freely within the cong without fear of being df'd/banned). Although i'm sure the KH can just call the police and have them removed due to disturbing the peace. Does anyone think this would happen?
2. The people that were shunned from thier family and friends because they were df'd for whatever reason would simply say, "fuck you friends and family!!!" Now that i'm not considered DF'd just because of some new light by the GB, am I just supposed to come back to you with open arms and say, "no worries"?!?
Your thoughts???

Disturbing new YouTube video showing Anthony Morris's approach to teenage baptism
by cedars inif anyone was under the illusion that all baptized jw children become dedicated solely of their own volition, then hopefully this new video should be a wake-up call.. .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plgbjdgoj-u.
(unfortunately, due to the soundtrack i've chosen, this video is apparently banned in germany.

That is disturbing Cedars!! Did Morris really say all that ver batem or are these sound bites clipped together?
Also, why is this soundtrack you used illegal in Germany? Is it because they only allow David Hasselhoff to sing?
It seems like the kids getting baptized can barely touch the bottoms of the pools.

Leaving Jehovah's Witnesses is NOT the same as the doctrines leaving you
by Terry inif you grow up speaking english and you move to mexico you don't automatically speak spanish, know customs, understand currency, possess skills.
for self-support or have any special insight into latino mindset.. .
why would you expect leaving jehovah's witnesses would leave you any less ill-equipped to navigate the real world?.

I think the hardest part for me was realizing I was duped my whole f*ing life (i was practically a born in). at about 20 years old, i started reading books and learning to think critically. I began to feel that something about the organization was just not right. at about 24, i knew for sure it wasn't right. i started getting more and more into philosophy and learning to think critically. then at about 28, i finally cracked and had my moment of enlightenment when i least expected it...something some people spend thier whole lives trying to attain. when it finally hit me, i had a nervous breakdown of monsterous proportions. from then on i was "born again" (pun intended since im not religious now) and was finally able to accept that 95% of life is bullshit; the other 5% is reality. I stayed in for family for the next 6 years which was a mistake. It seemed like the more I didn't care, the more they demoted me (e.g. made me an MS, gained more responsibilites, etc). I felt like such a hypocrite..giving talks from the platform and telling people things that I new was bullshit. Anyways...long story short, I finally got burned out and found a way out. I have offically been inactive for a little over a half a year. There is alot more to it than this, but for now, its all im willing to share.
