i am a former active poster here, former elder, former bethelite and pretty much known by people on the xjw boards since the mid 90's.
gawd that makes me sound old.. i notice that a great deal of uproar is being made by allegations of a hide in the closet alleged bethelite.
to counter the damage caused by this claim, i am happy to address any questions people may have about bethel, protocol, etc.. i was at the canada branch for 11 years, worked in multiple areas including the legal department, service desk and writing dept.
Hi Uzzah,
I helped write the frickin 1995 Watchtower article about the "Generation Change" and was privvy to all the discussions surrounding that change. I knew of many of the child abuse cases, cover ups and mishandlings. Yet when I said I wanted to leave, they all but drove me to the gate.
Seems to me the WT thinks they are above reproach, no matter how much covering up of their corruption. This is the fallacy of most religions. Each one thinks they are the only right religion and can do no wrong. Especially true of the Jehovah's Witnesses. They commit perjury via "Theocratic Warfare" thinking that Jehovah is helping them "trick" their religious opponents. They believe that Jehovah would want it that way.
I believe one day their actions will catch up to them and they will be held accountable by a power greater than themselves or even their false god.

ELPIRO,
Welcome to the forum.
I was taught after leaving the jws that Jehovah is a lower-vibrating entity that thrives and feeds on fear. JWs are a religion of fear. Their members are taught to fear Jehovah, fear the devil, fear the demons, fear disfellowshipped ones, fear the world, fear everything! Jehovah is not the Almighty at all, but a "lower" power-seeking demi-god.
Can you disprove that? I know what the Bible says about Jehovah being the Almighty, and quite frankly, I don't believe it anymore.
And the question about where else can we go? Well, just about anywhere that doesn't teach their followers to be in constant fear is preferable to the Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs.
Sending you love,

well, the new semester has just started.
as some of you know, i'm a college professor.
i was in my large lecture course yesterday (a couple hundred students).
I am glad you reported the incident. I feel strongly about the safety issue. I'm glad to hear your administrators validated the incident.
In an airport, if one were to talk like that student, one would be pulled aside for security reasons.
It would be interesting if the class could have a discussion about such a comment.

when i began questioning the religion i used the bible and their own statements to prove them wrong.
now, recently, i have began to realise that maybe the only reason i put any faith in the bible is because i was always raised to.. so my question is, after leaving the watchtower, what was it that made you decide the bible was worthy of belief?.
i am not asking about any continuing belief in god or disbelief, i am more conscerned about the first step (to me) right now of the bible itself.
I believe parts of the Bible, but not the way the JWs teach it. I have discovered my own "truths" from the scriptures that make a lot more sense to me than what the jws preached.

"it really is terribly simple, .
1) models with predictive capability are of utility.
2) science is in a class of its own, a process without competitors, when it comes to its ability to form such models.. .
Great thread, whereami!
Religion has too much power. People have created a monster that threatens the continued existence of our planet.

'scuse me??? ...honor and dignity???
Since when?
Religion has far too much power. Too bad they feel they must use it to bully and maniuplate the media.
Keep sending money to the worldwide work!...someone's gotta pay them legal bills!

i think us gun laws are s-t-u-p-i-d ... and the legal system more so.
saw a very good suggestion yesterday though - force people who want to own a gun to require insurance (hey, you have to have it for a vehicle for gods sake).
single-shot hunting rifle?
So sad.
