  What Was Your First Experience In Exposing Yourself To "Apostasy"?

  as a young teenager, i would look at "apostate" books at the city library.

  i was always intrigued as to what was sooo bad and other than a few writings of some that seemed like they hated the witnesses, i would clandestinely look at literature, especially in "christian" bookstores.. it took years for me to finally disconnect.

  i will say that ray franz' books enlightened me the most!.

  When I was a born in JW I thought apostates were the crazy born again christian believers.

  I remember (when I was about 16yo) to see a book in a shop intitled "Jehovah, a false god". I was very scared with that book.

  I also remember (when I was about 14yo) a book from David Reed in my uncle's house.

  But I never even touched such books.

  In 2000 when I was 18yo I searched for the first time "Jehovah's Witnesses" in internet and came a result of a site called "Watching the Watchtower". I turned off the page at same time.

  In 2004 when I was in an informatic class I searched the JW's again and for the first time I read something apostate. It was a story about an elder who left the WT and became a born again christian, the story was very subjective and full of whining. I reinforced my opionio about apostates being losers and leaving for personal offenses.

  In 2006 I was bored at work then I decided to look on wikipedia about what the other religions thought about the Babylon from revelation book. I was very surprised with the article about the JW view, because it was plainly CORRECT! I expected hate speech and misinformation about the JW's even from wikipedia.

  But I found something very strange in the JW page on wikipedia, there's something about a man called Raymond Franz who was supposed an ex- GB member! I thought to myself: "bullshit, there's no such thing as an ex-GB member"! So I went to read the article on RF to disprove he was a real ex-GB member, and the rest is history and a lot of punches on my table and blood boiling in my veins.... LOL

  I still remember my head spinning and the nausea while reading the 2 chapters from CoC in wikipedia links.

  (Reject the OT but accept everything in the NT about Jesus.)

  She denies a lot of things about Jesus too. Like Jesus preaching how you must treat your slaves. And violent references of Jesus in the gospels and apocalipse.

  It's not cherry picking it's atom picking.

  Both of them like to capitalize some words too.

  Or they are the same person or they are infected with same mental virus. I know people can be programmed to use same language and thought pattern in controled environments (like the Borg).

  Tec, about the bible writing... I used an analogy showing that you cannot hide your style even when is mixed up with others. The principle is the same, one writing as several people or several people writing as one, it's an equation.

  A very irrelevant thread answered by tec, same blah blah about organized religion, one ends with love/signature the other with peace/signature, same taste for lower case letters...

  It's just how the bible was written, several writers with distinct styles writing under the same name. But you can't fool people who use critical thinking.

  What the hell happened to "Heaven"

  it seems to me that this 20th / 21st century has made heaven obsolete .prior to this timeframe the average person would have thought ,somewhere just above the clouds is where heaven would be.then gradually as knowledge and science increased ," heaven" has been further removed from the vicinity of earth.then we had yuri gagarin the russian cosmonaut circling the earth in his space capsule , and he wasnt in heaven .now many people from different countries circle the world in space in the international space ship.they obviously are not in heaven either.. not to be overlooked of course is the moon landings , which was a major acheivement for science and engineering when it was first accomplished.. however their has not been one ,not two or even three moon landings , their has been six with a total of twelve humans who have set foot on the moon.

  and they never encounted "heaven " for people who dispute the moon landings , do you honestly think other nations ,some hostile to the americans ,would sit back and not challenge these acheivements ?.

  after all these years ?.
