Rebirth it's not just something that happens when you die. It happens all the time. At every moment you are a little different from the past moment. We aren't a thing but a bunch of things. The illusion of continuity between one moment to the other it's called rebirth. At the moment of death it's only a drastic change for your karma (cycle of thought patterns ). Buddhism does not say your consciousness will survive the death experience. It says the impulse of your karma will be the cause for another being arise to existence. This new being will inherit the impulse of your thought patterns. But anyway you can use the concept of rebirth to your daily experience and not to something beyond your death. The fact is you die and reborn at every second of this existence. Just try to be aware of that. Forget anything about your clinical death because it will be an event outside of your life. Pay attention to your every second death. -

Introducing myself
by maksutov inmy name is russ, i'm 40 years old, from the uk, and i left the jws nearly 5 years ago.
i've been a member of the yuku board throughout that time, so there are probably some on here who know me already.
there seems to be more activity over here at the moment, so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.i was raised as a jw, started questioning it when i was 16, but there was no internet back then (well, no www anyway) so i got sucked right in and got baptized when i was 18. auxiliary pioneered on and off for a couple of years, then became a ministerial servant.

For God So Loves the Western World...
by Tempest in a Teacup in...that only people from those countries can lead 'his organization'.. a few years ago, one conversation stopper people would often bring up to jws in my country is: 'you guys are an american religion'.
the standard answer we were formatted to give to shoot that down was that "god does not favor any nationality over others.
however some countries do possess some advantages needed for the advancement of the divine work.

What comforts you when you no longer believe in a ressurrection ?
by EdenOne inour family just lost someone dear and very close, a faithful jw.
as we went through the entire funeral services and meeting long time brothers and sisters, who in general have been very kind and warm towards us, we realize that the hope of resurrection is a meaningless utopia for us, like a fairytale for little children.
we don't have faith in it anymore, and serves us of no comfort.

We are a possibility in this universe because we exist.
And we are made of stuff from this universe.
There's a possibility to recreate everything again as long as the same stuff is available.
Maybe someday a superhuman artificial intelligence would be able to scan the entire space and time (perhaps through quantum entanglement) in an atomic level and then would be able to materialize anything in the present moment. Including human brains at any time in the past.
I like this idea because is a logical possibility.
