If you could ask one question to an active JW to get them to open their mind about their beliefs, what would it be?
by Franklin Massey inthis question was posed to me by a poster named ice cream.
i don't know my answer yet.
it's one of those, "if you could have just one wish.." kind of questions.

He would have to show me that the watchtower is wrong in not participating in wars like the rest of the so called Christians
That the watchtower is wrong in putting it’s faith in the kingdom and not man
That Christians are spread out in all sorts of organizations that think so differently about God they even go to war over it
He would have to show me that the WATCHTOWER is wrong regarding
The trinity
Hell
The purpose of God 4 the earth
That type of thing

Hortz,
And how do you expect me to take you seriously when you make that
Statement which you know is not true. You are willing to take this freedom with words,
stating something false as fact and or twisting the truth to bend it for yr agenda of discrediting the Witnesses.
“Where the spirit of Jehovah is, there is freedom.”—2 CORINTHIANS 3:17.
“For this I have been born and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.
Everyone that is on the side of the truth listens to my voice.” (John 18:37)

Ps sacramento,
‘That’s an interesting point you have brought up.
And you are right that we do have a responsibility to be witnesses for Jesus.
That’s why Jesus’ role in God’s purpose is emphasized in our publications
But here is something that may be a new thought to you.
(Rev. 1:5) . . . , 5 and from Jesus Christ, “the Faithful Witness,”
“The firstborn from the dead,” and “The Ruler of the kings of the earth
Of whom was Jesus “the Faithful Witness”?(John 5:43 ; 17:6) . . . 43 I have come in the name of my Father, but YOU do not receive me; if someone else arrived in his own name, YOU would receive that one 6 “I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have observed your word.
Jesus set the example that we should imitate, did he not? . . . Why is it so important to get to know both Jesus and his Father? (John 17:3)’ This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ

ynot,
I feel you are not telling me the whole story
about how you feel that our message today differs from what the first Christians taught,
We have to remember that Christianity was new,
God's favor was with the new spiritual nation just born,
Jehovah allowed Jesus and his followers to perform resurrections and many miracles to prove this had God's baking.
Today we have the whole bible, so these miracles are not longer needed, so our message differs in this, also at that time the majority of people had not heard of Jesus, Today Most people have an idea of who he is and that he died for our sins, once past this hurdle, the message is concentrated on the fact that this kingdom will vindicate God and the issue raised by Satan will finally be resolved.
What good news do you think Jehovah’s witnesses preach and how do you think it differs from the early Christians and or the bible?

1975 was not a "TEACHING"
it WAS A MENTION OF SOMETHING THAT COULD HAPPEN.
The ones that listened to Jesus in his word 1975 simply did not matter, no body knows the date of the end. -

sebastious,
You forget that those young people turn in to older adults, you can consider it a sales pitch, but at that time it was thought that the generation that saw the beginning of the end wld not pass until the end wld come, this was the generation of 1914. We hope to never grow old end die
“I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life; and everyone that is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all.”—JOHN 11:25, 26.?

What is the 'Truth' or 'good news/gospel' of the Jehovah's Witnesses?
If it is different than what the Apostle was speaking, how did they come to that 'light'?

The Witnesses had long shared the belief that the Thousand Year Reign of Christ would follow after 6,000 years of human history. But when would 6,000 years of human existence end? The book Life Everlasting—In Freedom of the Sons of God, released at a series of district conventions held in 1966, pointed to 1975. Right at the convention, as the brothers examined the contents, the new book triggered much discussion about 1975.
At the convention held in Baltimore, Maryland, F. W. Franz gave the concluding talk. He began by saying: “Just before I got on the platform a young man came to me and said, ‘Say, what does this 1975 mean?’” Brother Franz then referred to the many questions that had arisen as to whether the material in the new book meant that by 1975 Armageddon would be finished, and Satan would be bound. He stated, in essence: ‘It could. But we are not saying. All things are possible with God. But we are not saying. And don’t any of you be specific in saying anything that is going to happen between now and 1975. But the big point of it all is this, dear friends: Time is short. Time is running out, no question about that.’
In the years following 1966, many of Jehovah’s Witnesses acted in harmony with the spirit of that counsel. However, other statements were published on this subject, and some were likely more definite than advisable. This was acknowledged in The Watchtower of March 15, 1980 (page 17). But Jehovah’s Witnesses were also cautioned to concentrate mainly on doing Jehovah’s will and not to be swept up by dates and expectations of an early salvation
