  I am Totally ADD but unfortunately not toally out of the JW mindset. Demon or horror movies still creep me out. I still think somedays it Thursday I need to get ready for the meeting. Mostly I worry about how I am going to tell my older brother who is a elder how I feel. Many JW mindsets I am out of but there is still few I deal with. Give me a couple of more years I think I should be good to go. Totally ADD

  Question about Writing Department

  i know that some dubs who write material for the wtbts that are not of the 'faithful slave'.

  when the non-anointed finish the material it is to be approved by someone appointed from the gb to check the material.

  i am not sure that this is the correct picture, please correct if i am wrong.

  I believe most of the articles are wrote by the OS. The GB may come up with a idea but the writing department is made up mostly of the OS. One of the GB is the overseer to the writing department. One of the reasons all the studies articles sound like rehashed stuff is because the writing department uses mostly research material from other WT pub. Any outside material may be quotes to fit what they are trying to push. I think this is pretty close to what happens with a few exceptions. Totally ADD

  I FINALLY DID IT ...............

  i threw out my old public talk outlines and notes!.

  i spent ages, researching, and writing my talks to try and make them interesting.

  so i was rather reluctant to get rid of them.. but today i need the folder they were in for a work project, so hey ho they had to go!!!.

  Contratulations Cantleave. I did that last month before we move up north. My wife ask me are you sure you want to burn them? Without any hesitation I said yes. All those years of stress in those color folders. No more wasting gas driving 50 miles to give a talk to a group of people who do not know you or could care less about you. No more wasted Sat. afternoons going over those talks. No more sleepless nights worrying about getting up early so you and the family can get ready. And on and on and on. Great job Cantleave. My folders were all marked up so I could not used them for anything. Totally ADD

  What would the world be like if everybody was a Jehovah Witnesses

  on the news the other day they showed a young man after graduating from high school went out and got drunk and had a bad car accident.

  he was paralyze from the waist down.

  instead of going into deep depression of what he did to himself he started his life over and went to college and was involved in inventing a exoskeleton for disable people.

  do you remember this bible?.

  Thanks for the great memory of the dinosaur in the old green bible. As a kid I would stare at it for hours. I only good thing about ADD was I was able to chime out for a long time and when I woke up out of it was time to sing a song. Now eating glue. No. We were not allowed to chew gum let alone eating green bible glue at our Kingdom Hall. Totally ADD

  in real life, i do not ask people questions.. i don't look like the avatar of minimus.. i am very personable and well liked.. and....i'm pretty discerning, should i say so myself..

  Mostly. My avatar looks the way I feel sometimes. I used to have a very bad anger problem. No hitting or shoving but I was like a steam kettle. It would build up and build up I would just explode (verbally) After getting help I am really the person I always wanted to be. Mostly calm and when I feel the anger creeping in I am able to let it go without exploding. When I post I don't like fighting with others or being confrontational. I like being friendly and being silly sometimes. When I really get down I get out my old VCR tape of "George of the Jungle" to pull me out of the funk. I feel great empathy for all those who are on here who were abused by this cult as I was. But at the same time I love learning about the diffrent thoughts and ideas of others. I learn so much. I love this format for I am learning to write my thoughts it is quite a challenge sometimes. In many ways I am what I appear on this site. Totally ADD

  help appreciated...any success or failures at truly conscious efforts to make new friends after a life in jwland? As a very social person i still only seem to have ex-dubs as my new friends...

  as a jw...at least if you were social...you could walk into about any hall and find other social jw's you could become friends with...yes they are conditional...perhaps more so than other friends, but i did have some great friends there and i still miss them.

  since my wake up....then departure....now df status....i realize that i have had only seven or so real friends and five were found here..... five are fairly local, one is far away, and one is an old high school friend i have reconnected with (lives a thousand miles away).....and i have met some nice people through these friends but they are more aquaintances than close friends.

  the bar scene did not really get me anywhere with guys or girls...and i tried meetup.com but as of yet have not connected with anyone....so what worked for you?

  Thanks Oompa for the good thread. I am taking notes. Even though my wife and I left the cult together it is a new experience for me. Like you I am a social person my wife is quite happy being alone. I see it will take alot of work on my part to make new friends.   maybe brooklyn, queens, jersey city, portland (or & me), green bay, west palm beach, sacramento, long beach, bakersfield or san diego weekend of 5/27.

  Daniels visions! I remember back in the late 50's the big WT lesson was on this. I was 5 years old and my dad drew a picture of it for me. I am sure the WT said that stone was about to hit the feet of that image. In the 70's again there was a book of Daniel and that stone was about to hit the feet of that image. I am sure this summer DC they will say that stone is about to hit the feet of that image. This will be the 3rd DC I will miss. So please somebody fill us in on what is said about this image of Daniel. Is the stone about to hit the feet of the image? Totally ADD

  Were you allowed to vote in student council elections?

  around here in fundiedubland, it was considered practice for political elections.

  we were not allowed to do it at all.. i had to get a parental note stating i wasn't allowed to participate.. watchtower society: sucking the normal out of childhood since 1881.tm.

  As a child I did not know it was wrong to vote in school elections. It wasn't until I was in high school my friend also a JW got in trouble with the elders in his congregation about voting in a school elections. That was the first time I found out that was not allowed. I do understand what all you have experience in school as a JW child. I always thought it was interesting how the children of JW took on the bulk of the self made persecution because of what our parents believed. While the parents would get off scot free. That is one of the big reasons most of the born-ins who are still in and those of us out have alot of bagage we carry around. Totally ADD
