If solid proof were suddenly found that the Book of Enoch should be included in the standard Bible, would that pose a problem for the Jehovah's Witnesses in regards to Michael the Archangel as Jesus?
by I_love_Jeff inif the book of enoch (elaborates and gives mention to 6 more archangels) suddenly became part of the bible due to solid evidence, how would this effect the shakey jw doctrine of michael the archangel as being jesus?
there are six other archangels mentioned in this book; could it be possible, if included in the jw bible, that one of the other archangels could be jesus?
would they excuse it somehow and simply stick with their implicit understanding of jesus=michael?.

The book of Enoch IS considered Canon in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
It is to them a part of the Bible.
The JW's do not use the complete Bible but a Protestant version of such.

I think the Doctor will protect humanity far better that God
by Star tiger inmy wife has converted me into the cult of dr who, and he seems to be much more friendly to humanity, even though he was complicite in the destruction of his home planet gallifray, lol, a non judgemental superior being that cares for lesser life forms such as ourselves.. last saturday me, the wife and kids were total enamoured by the love and friendship of geeks, their was no judgement, homosexual or racial, things were really nice, my three kids sat for five hours, with breaks, and all were utterly enthralled by the proceedings, and as previously only a driver to these events i have been totally converted into the cult!.
by the way there are no contrary ways to behave against our natural humanity, everyone is equal, what a lovely place to be!.
looking at my kids at the time the were totally enchanted by the proceedings, not like when i remember my upbringing with the boring and utterly pointless conventions!

Have You Ever Gone To Meetings While Under The Influence Of Booze Or Drugs?
by minimus ini had an italian elder friend that regularly drank his wine (daily) and it was obvious that on some thursday or tuesday evenings, he was clearly under the influence of alcohol.
quite often, we would have a 3:00 sunday afternoon elder's meeting and once again, i could tell he had been drinking.. nobody ever brought it up but i knew him well and he loved his vino and martinis!.
we had a number of people on meds that would either act like zombies at the meetings or cry or get aggressive.

On a few occasions I popped a extra heavy dose of painkillers until I got a good buzz. I was so relaxed that it did not matter what was being said.
Everyone took on a friendly feeling for me and the whole atmosphere inside was calm and peaceful.
However, I must say that these things only put a bandage on the inevitable; that is that reality will set in and we must deal with those problems later on.
Today I would not even think of this going to my church as I feel it is disgraceful, but at the time it certainly killed the emotional pain.

How many ex-jws move out of town to start over?
by rebel8 ini was wondering how common it is for ex-jws to relocate after leaving the borg in order to escape the bad memories of being in a cult, or to break contact with cult members.. i have wanted to move far away for as long as i can remember--even as a kid--for this purpose.
various life circumstances have delayed that--long story--but mr. rebel8 and i are thinking of moving within the next few years.
i am the one who's most interested in moving to a completely different type of place--different culture, different climate, different everything!

I want to add that wherever we go carry ourselves with us.
A wise man once said that wherever you go there you will always be.
You cannot escape yourself and your worldview. I think we must make a new beginning, not on geography but on a foundation of trust in what we will believe as new. In this way we create not only a better framework for ourselves but hold a new tradition and worldview that we can defend for our families.

I think the whole idea of moving and fading is to avoid shunning in one form or another.
I say that we should tell people like it is. It is important; as in you don't believe in this anymore. In this way you can not move but just start a new life with "truth", meaning you are looking for a new direction in both life, religion, philosophy, or whatever.
I told my family I don't believe in this anymore. They still accept me and do not shun me. Things may change but I think running and hiding only prolongs the enevitible, that is you are a independent person and that your ideologies can be contrary to your families.

Spelling/Grammar Nazis.

it kinda gets my goat when folks disregard spelling and grammar.
i really get miffed at misuse of there/their/they're and your/you're, then/than, etc.. i very rarely ever go so far as to correct anyone on it, but it would seem that maybe karma caught up with me today on another thread when i typed that i had "said my peace".

I'm pretty casual about mistakes but the one I almost always notice is when people use the word "alot". "Alot" is not a word. You would use
a, (with a space) then the word lot.
Example: I use to drink alot of the koolaid from the kingdom halls. (incorrect)
I use to drink a lot of the koolaid from the kingdom halls. (correct)
I don't know why but this always bothered me.
Then again I'm not a good student of English and have fairly poor spelling even after going to college for several years.
