What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?
by Funchback inthere were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

I have to say this particular sister is a bit simple so it`s not entirely her fault but it was funny.
I was standing in a circle of mature sisters & one of them asked if this beautiful young sister had, had her eyebrow`s waxed & how lovely she looked. I piped up " you could put her in a sack & she would still look good, she`s so beautiful,"
The simple sister said " yeah but after she`s had a couple of kid`s she`s gonna look just like her mother," who just happened to be a bit weighty the other sisters just stood dumb founded while I cracked up cause I thought it was so funny.

For those of you that are disfellowshipped, How Far Would Your Faithfull JW Family Go To Stay Loyal to The WT?
by John Aquila inive seen jw parents shun their disfellowshipped children for 20-30 years.
ive seen parents remove disfellowshipped or fader children from wills and give the inheritance to the watchtower..
if your country got run over by some form of government like the nazi regime and started a process of eliminating any groups or individuals who it considered a threat.

This is amost interesting subject & each situation is different my own thought on this by observing others & listening to my own heart is that they are wrong in the general sense. Both John & Fisherman put forth good arguments, however the JDub`s take on shunning goes beyond what I believe would be exceptable to Jesus. I have said before that when one of my own kid`s went before the elders I made it quite clear that they could sod off if they thought I would shun, they can DF me also. The reason was because in my whole being I knew it to be wrong. Some parents have no problem`s turning their back on their kid`s in fact they are quite boastful of their loyalty to the Borg. This I have observed is generally the attitude of parents who were controlling to begin with (arseholes). Have a narcissistic disposition However the one`s who love their kid`s from their hearts struggle, sleepless nights, tears, stress, guilt ridden. WHY? I believe that not only are they pushed to shun their loved one`s but also because they are going against their own consciences & therefore also struggle to have freedom of speech before God, this is something that no-one should demand of another. They have made the sacrifice of Jesus invalid with their demanding extremes, & are forcing members of the cong to be faithful to the organization over God. -

I also want to share something else, last night we (Husband & I) were watching a wildlife programme, David Attenborough, it was on power, well the chimpanzees are very interesting they have a social group where the old & young are of no threat to the dominate males who walk around in group controlling the others. Their was a lone male teenager who was an orphan & so had no-one to recommend him, all he wanted was to be noticed so he put on a little display. The dominant males bashed him for it. There behaviour reminded us of the congregations of JDub`s, they are basically troops of chimps. If you get a chance to watch anything about them you will be amazed by the similarities, bearing in mind that Chimps are supposed to be our closest relatives, it is said that we share 98% of their genetic material, I think JDub`s share 99%. Of cause this is my personal opinion, yours may be different.

Orphancrow, he was a pervert!
I was told by a sister, " you need to learn how to do small talk like me, then you can be friendly with everyone without having them as friends".
Here`s another one " you need to protect yourself from the brothers & sisters in the cong".
A visiting elder came up to me after a meeting & said " you are to honest when you answer up" WTF!
I was always in trouble for opening my gob & telling some-one the truth. I thought honesty & Christianity went hand in hand. How wrong was i.

Self sabotage, hurt them first, they will definitely hurt you cause you deserve to be hurt right. You will never be good enough. Put the mask on but you can only wear it for a while then the real you shows up the one they wont like. SO YOU, self sabotage, hurt them first, they will definitely hurt you cause you deserve to be hurt right etc
You get the idea, your going round in circles, don't panic we all do that with different things. You need to work out how to break it. Reads to me like your dealing with some kind of shame, not guilt, shame. Reads to me like all this is coming from your stomach not your head. & yes probably if there has been trauma from your childhood it has not helped the situation. Sounds like your afraid of letting some-one love you that is you can give love but you struggle to receive it, you don't think your lovable maybe. That would burn anyone out, give all your wages to others then whose gonna pay the rent you will end up homeless. You are stronger than you think Garrett & courageous, you have excellent expression you wrote this amazing post.

what do you really believe
by Sabin inwhat do you really believe the percentage is for jw who are truly ignorant of what is going on behind closed doors of the w.t.
as opposed to those who actually know something is wrong & yet go along with it for whatever reason?
i have been asked for coffee by what i can only describe as one of the sweetest persons i have ever known & i cant even begin to conceive that she knows what is happening with the child abuse cases but then how do i know?

I think the numbers of JW who are aware that something is wrong is huge, I think it could be as high as 50% or even more. The amount of JW who are to gutless to do anything about it is really high also. John the 10% are the ones who walk away, stop going, stop contributing etc. Vinman you talk of realists well I`m one of those I can look at a situation & see it for what it truly is & the truth well what do you say- How many women do you think don't report abuse by their husbands, or stand up for their children, how many men will go without financially to spend more time at home, or give up time with their friends to have alone time with their partner, you would be amazed at the amount that just put up & shut up, & you see we humans as a rule don't like to rock the boat not if it means that we will personally get wet. & that my friends is the truth, JW know, you ask them about child abuse they don't ask questions they defend the Borg, why would you go on the defence about something you know nothing about? They know. -

The Governing Body and "Josephs generation"
by The freewheeling inhi, i m new here and not so good in english, but ive give it a try and hope you understand.. .
the whole idea of the overlapped generation is not only illogical, there are also serious errors in reasoning and how to interpret the scripture.. .
the only "scriptural argument" that the governing body has managed to bring in this matter is exodus 1: 6 where they say that a "generation" can be stretched to cover a longer period than usually meant by a "generation".
