Are you angry for having been a JW?
by Half banana ini remember seeing the ex-jws parading around outside the assembly like lepers holding placards of hate.
we were the righteous and enlightened ones... and they were lost in outer darkness.
just dont look at them was the standard response to their unwelcome presence..

anger, it`s not a bad emotion. left to go on though it can be a root cause for depression which unchecked can be dangerous. When bad things happen to you & no-one stands in your corner instead they join in & rejoice it is devastating. Yes I feel angry, strangely enough not as angry as I was when I was in. I found these people just didn't care about anything except themselves. I would find myself constantly defending the weaker ones even against the fuck wick elders. I watched while they took advantage of weaker ones for their own gain. I should no-longer be surprised by it but I am, at least now it`s not in my face. If your angry then be angry, kick scream cry, then breath. These things show you your alive. -

Talk with a witness, my " Final Showdown"
by The Rebel inyesterday a witness friend asks why i don't attend the k.h anymore.. me:- " i don't say this often but your j.ws opinion is wrong" .
the end.. my reasons for this simple reply were:-.
a) i have grown tied of reading j.w crap.

Rebel, if you are happy with your response then it was the right response. I get what your saying you can just end up going round in circles with them & their not interested anyway, they just go running back to the elders & say bad stuff about you. Good for you wanting to get on with your life & be positive. You don't need any-ones approval. -

Name Things You Can't Do If You Are JW...or not supposed to do
by minimus inwitnesses are not supposed to stand for the national anthem but can stand for a flag salute.. you can't say bless you if someone sneezes, good luck!, or " you too" if someone says, happy holidays.. it is a religion of cannot dos.
everything is pagan and worldly.. what are things that are unacceptable to jehovah's witnesses that really are no big deal to everyone else?
?.

Minimus I am unable to answer your question, as it is spiritually illegal for you to be asking it. -

Paint, Barney, and Jehovah
by John Aquila ini made a quick run to lowes to buy some paint and ran into a brother.
he is one of those elders that is very, very, petty.
if he drops by your house unexpected and notices that your kids are watching one of the star wars movies, he will counsel you for allowing your kids to watch any movie that has to do with war he will then make sure you are not recommended for any privilege.

Mr Aquila you crack me up, I love reading your post you do have a way of putting things across to make people think. I`ve decided I`m gonna start writing some of the stuff down so I can use it myself. Thanks mate. Steve2 isn't as sensitive as you think you should have read what I wrote to him on a post when I misunderstood, it wasn't pretty, he took on the chin, I was the one apologizing, any way sensitivity in a man is a good thing we got enough arseholes in this world. -

I have found highlighting the areas in the book that have jumped out to me personally really helpful it means I can go back to some of the points that will help me if I need to. Also written out my favourite quote & stuck it up on the wall, so I can see it every day, (pg 79, Escape From Freedom) even though I love to read I`m glad the book isn`t to long so the info you need to go forward isn`t overwhelming. Some else put up a post with alist on Spiritual abuse. There were 10 points I wrote these out to & put them on the wall just to remind me how bad the borg truly is, when I have a moment of anxiety. What things have you found helpful? -

Follow up to Crazyguys rant.
by Crazyguy inwant to thank everyone that's posted on the other thread the advise is much appreciated and i will look at all the ideas before i proceed.
i wanted to talk about the advise concerning stopping my kids from going to meetings and or stopping the jw's from studying with my kids.
first a little background on my situation.. im still married and still living with my wife.

Crazyguy I agree, you need to be guided by your kids feelings. I have seen Fathers who have forced their kids to go & ones that have forced them not to. Either way yields bad results. I personally have the experience of a husband that did neither of these & his kids love him. We talked about how we are going to feel if ours shun us which is most likely going to happen at some stage, however they will never be able to say we got it wrong or we were bad parents. They have both told us that to. Lots of JDubs screw their kids up by trying to turn them into what they want, let them see you be true to yourself & still be an amazing husband, farther, man. -

Intro and Thoughts
by ThinkerBelle ini've been lurking on the board for almost a year now and i think i'm ready to come out of hiding (although, i'm so nervous as i type this).
i'm not ready to share everything about my story, but the basics are that i'm a born-in, elder's kid, baptized as a teenager because i was tired of hearing people ask me "all your friends are baptized, when are you going to get baptized?
", married an unbeliever (was df, but came back shortly after) and we have two kids.

Hello Tink, it`s so nice to meet you. It sounds like your in a good place to fade out, I mean that you have family on the outside to talk to. Sorry about your parents that's tough. Good that your kids are young so their not in a place where their being pushed into baptism. Look forward to getting to know you. SABIN
