A real zealous JW might even not reconise the satire.

I was invited by roaming JW's that stuck one under my door, but not my family. My husband and I had a good chuckle that we should attend it since we were invited.

I am curious about what would happen when a non JW seeks to live there? Can they reject them and wouldnt that be discimination due to religious reasons?
I am also not sure what JW, who have spent their entire JW career, not pursuing a career, would be able to afford such a place.
I am sad, cause I bet a lot of JW's would be breathless talking about this place and a dream retirement living place, and lament the cost.

One time I was at a party when I was maybe 17 and I had a beer. I hated it and probably carried it around, only cause I thought it looked cool to others. I got called in the back room for being at a party and drinking. I lied to the elders and said I had not been drinking. Guilt overtook me and I later confessed to it but nothing happened.
Guess I was not much of a rebel.
Love the stories being posted !

Really?! - I agree with all your comments but also one more: I HATE it when people talk about religion. If they find out I am an ex JW, OH wow they have a million questions. What does the bible say about this? What do JW's say about that?
And I reply - I can tell you what it says/what they believe in, but its NOT what I believe in ! In general the topic of religion is very annoying to me. The more I learned about religions, I became and athiest. Now when people talk about their religions all I can see is their hypocrisy. I feel bad about it. I am working on it.

I WISH I had more critical thought process, but I mostly accepted on blind faith everything they told me. I left because the organization sided with my abusive ex husband in the divorce because he had not cheated on me. THAT is the policy that adventually drove me out.
In the end they were an organization that told me I should stay with a phsically abusive drug addict cause.....he loved Jehovah.

Black sheep of the family-my life as an ExJW
by bsand20 ini was a 3rd generation jw, half the congregation i attended was made up of my entire mom's side of the family, 2 of the 3 elders were my grandpa and uncle.
my first memory of the organization was when they announced my mom's name in the meeting saying she had been reinstated....it was 1988 and i was 6 years old....i didn't understand it then, but when i asked my mom why was she crying and why did they say her name in the meeting, she said "it's because i've been good!".
so she went back and after a period of time assisting constantly, she was reinstated.

I remember one summer, going to a remote congregation for a week with a caravan of people from our hall and we helped that congregation complete a huge chunk of their entire territory that week. We were out in service every day, all day. I think the last day or two of the week, we took half days to "enjoy the vacation".
I think I was 15 or so at the time and I had all my friends with me so I did not mind it. I dont think we were very serious about recruiting people, more enjoying spending all our days together and making the most of it.
There are definatley other things I would have rather been doing, but at the time, when you dont know any different, its not that weird to you.
