CBRE Group’s Westchester/Fairfield County office announced today the successful sale of 39 Mount Ebo Road South, a 93,000-square-foot industrial property in Southeast.
The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. bought the property for $6.1 million.
The buyer plans to use the property for its own uses, including media production, CBRE Group said in a press release.
“This industrial property sits on 11.42 acres of land and features warehouse space and adjoining offices—it’s a truly rare block of modern high bay warehouse space for this market and continues the trend of owner occupiers buying blocks of space,” said Kevin Langtry, a vice president in CBRE’s Stamford, CT office.
The tenant, Watson Pharmaceuticals, planned to vacate the property, so its owner retained CBRE, Inc. in advance to line up a buyer.
Langtry represented the seller, IndCor Properties, a Chicago-based REIT that owns and operates a portfolio of wholly owned industrial properties in locations throughout the United States.
“This, combined with its proximity to Watchtower’s Route 22 campus, made it a great fit. It was a win-win for both IndCor and The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York,” said Langtry.

sir82 - Which "rule book" is that?
Just the basic "Flock" book that all elders get?
Or something higher, maybe branch office guidelines?
Also, that article is nearly a year old. Any updates since then?Yes the Flock book.
The Bethel heavies met with the ministers, and as it looks like from the news article, lied their asses off and managed to convince them everything is a-OK.
The ministers came to the conclusion that JW JC's are NOT a judicial system competing with the Finnish rule of law. And that if somebody feels like their rights have been broken they should go to the police and the matter will be investigated properly, as the ministers are not law enforcement officials and can not start investigating every case themselves.
A Finnish apostate has collected news about this and other matters (in Finnish language, try google translate) on his website.

Judicial Committees illegal in Finland, can this apply to USA law??
by EndofMysteries inhttp://yle.fi/uutiset/justice_minister_no_room_for_two_judicial_systems_in_finland/7219841.
according to this story, finland is investigating and claims that only one judicial body is legal, theirs.
so a religion having a judicial system is illegal.

Unfortunately, the Judicial Committees are NOT deemed illegal in Finland.
The story you linked to is pretty old. It was published before the "investigation" into JW Judicial Committees...
I am going to copy paste what I wrote about this in another thread:
The "investigation" was like this: The Finnish Minister of Interior and Minister of Justice met with three top dogs from the Finnish Bethel, and apparently, they managed to convince them everything is fine.
The Ministers issued a press release saying, in essence, that Jehovah's Witnesses Judicial Committees are not a judicial system competing with the Finnish judicial system, and the JC's can be likened to disciplinary measures taken by any non-profit against its own members. And if somebody feels like a crime has been committed against them, they should go to the appropriate authorities.
So as long as nobody files a criminal complaint against the WT and the case is not taken to court, and ruled against the WT, JCs are assumed legal in Finland and it's business as usual for the WT.

Well, I had a good laugh - when I saw they used Ricky Gervais (a notable atheist) for one of the memes. Talk about being utterly clueless :) -

Wife is FOR SURE waking up
by cappytan inwell, this is a new development.
she broached the subject of ttatt tonight.
said i was right about the flood.

I hope all the best for your effort of helping your wife to think for herself. I only hope it will last... my wife has had maybe 2 or 3 brief periods of "lucidity" in the past year or so, when she snaps out of the mind control and has a moment of "OMG we are in a cult". She can even miss a meeting or two. But then she always relapses and goes back to the same old brain-numbing routine of meetings, ministry, meetings, ministry... and believes in JW.org even stronger than before.

Good Netflix shows to watch
by Simon inin the long winter nights you need some good tv shows to watch while you wait for the eternity between seasons of game of thrones.. we've watched marco polo (pretty good) and have just started watching orange is the new black which is not at all what i imagined (didn't know it was funny!).
house of cards is on the list too as we've heard good things about that.. anyone have any others that are worth seeing?.

I'm a big fan of spy/espionage tv shows. My favorites:
- Homeland
- The Americans (about cold war era "illegals", sometimes a lot like being a fader who knows TTATT ;))
- Spooks (UK version, not the cut up us version)
IDK if they are on netflix but if you can get them from, ahem, somewhere, then do. They are very good.

Nothing much actually happened, apart from a lot of negative publicity in the media for JWs.This was featured in all major news channels, and the internet, for quite a time last summer.
Here is the official statement from the Ministry of Justice (sorry - Google translation).
The Finnish Branch sent a letter to all congregations about the investigation, an effort to calm the flock down in the middle of the media circus (The letter, google translation). Notice how the letter fails to mention the Bethel Heavies gave the Ministers also the Shepherding the Flock book - the second paragraph from the official statement from the Ministry of Justice says they received the so-called Elders book of Jehovah's Witnesses...
A slap on the wrist, nothing more...
