there is a lot of cover up going on in the uk at the moment.

letters from the society etc to shrewbury conga and some of the kent congs.. one andrew spicer, pioneer who married early april 2005 in a kent congregation moved to shrewsbury area with his new wife to pioneer.

by 22 may 2005 he was dead.

I have just done a quick search and found the above news article. It certainly looks like he was very depressed.

One cannot put the whole blame on the JW's, but I can confidently say that the cult does not help a persons mental state.

I know of waaay too many suicides of JW's. I even know of a sad case relating to a disfellowshipping at the cong. that James Wright would likely of attended. It's all to close for comfort.

Just wondering if you knew of a James Wright ??

Apparently he was a 'talented arts graduate' who hanged himself - it could of been sometime last year, or the year before. I found a news cutting about it, thought you might know him??? It was probabably Stretford cong.

It's truly sad when a person feels so helpless

That is so sad!

I have no knowledge of this, but i have heard about a a lady (sister?) who was attending the Tues book study ( which my mother was attending whilst visiting a friend there.)

The next day my mum heard that this lady had comitted suicide.

Strange how this is in the close proximity of the area you are talking about.

OMG When I recall all the other suicide deaths over the years......it makes me feel panic, and sadness for the mental state of those that are still 'in'.

yesterday my son and his dad were talking about his world geography class.

it turns out that he is actually in an honors class...i didn't realize that, and i was pretty happy, since he has never been in an honors class.. today, i get a phone call...i see on the caller id it is from the school district.

the first thing i think of is this :"uh-oh...which one of the kids forget their homework or lunch money...etc..etc.".

My son is 9yrs old and he has struggled with 'enthusiasm for school' too.

I quite agree that leaving out the mind deadening meetings really does help!

I do believe that many 'long timers' get into a 'comfort zone' where they just could never see themselves leaving, afterall they would literaly have to start over again wouldn't they??

I think that the FDS probably have a wonderful life are would not choose go anywhere else

for those of yall that didn't know, kristi was a 37-yr-old ms patient that i took care of for the last year of her life.

she had a wonderful ribald sense of humor and talked like a sailor at times.

but it was all to cover up the ultra-sweet and tender heart she had.

this is all over the news here at the moment.

something very serious has happened on the london underground, there's conflicting reports as to what actually has happened, but it's serious enough to have closed the entire underground network.

radio 5 is going continuously on this, and i think it's on the tv too.. whatever's happened, it doesn't look good.. ig.

Gays and the Bible.

first of all.....i ain't bashin gays here......just have a question.. this morning i read in the paper that the united church of christ has unanimously approved of same sex marriage.

this now is the largest protestant sect who has approved of gay marriages.. my question is.......how does religion justify a way of life the bible condems as sinful?

what is their scriptural argument to justify this action as proper?.

however, I do think people overlook the social (and economical) ramifications of same sex marriage, much the same way people overlooked the results of divorce on society in general.

Mothers Doubts: Latest Update

further to my previous thread i thought i would share an update with you on the situation with my mother... .

essentially my mother has been a jw for 30 years and we had a long conversation which involved me running through my reasons for no longer going to the meetings; she seemed quite receptive and agreed for me to send the documents and articles relating to the un.

well that very evening she went to see her elders without actually seeing the documents and asked about the un saga....apparently the elder told her that 'this was all sorted out ages ago and yes this has come from the apostates' 'the society has never been a member of the un and that this just a hoax designed to stumble people....' hmmn.

Diamond, It's a shame that you can't speak to the elders who told her such lies. My brother rang bethel here in the UK and they did readily admit to at one time being part part of the UN. Also my brother (who does not hold back) hit the local PO with loads of info..... and do you know what he said???? " So what if we were part of the UN " Well, my brother will eventually give him the reasons as to why his dismissive answer is not acceptable. Good luck with your mum.
