  Sir David Attenborough has revealed that he gets hate mail from viewers for not crediting God in his documentaries.

  The veteran broadcaster, who is presenting a new series on Charles Darwin, said that he has received letters telling him to burn in hell because of his views on evolution.

  He told Radio Times that he is often asked why he does not credit God when talking about some of the creatures featured on his shows: "They always mean beautiful things like hummingbirds. I always reply by saying that I think of a little child in east Africa with a worm burrowing through his eyeball.

  "The worm cannot live in any other way, except by burrowing through eyeballs. I find that hard to reconcile with the notion of a divine and benevolent creator."

  He also revealed that he doesn't think creationism should be taught alongside evolution in schools and added: "It's like saying that two and two equals four, but if you wish to believe it, it could also be five.

  "Evolution is not a theory; it is a fact, every bit as much as the historical fact that William the Conqueror landed in 1066."

  JW reading bible at bank

  i was at the bank when i noticed the young teller reading the nwt.

  i after she put it down and helped me, i asked who was the jw.

  i just said i recognized the bible, its a very distinct bible..

  Hey! TheOldHippie...LOL Got sumfin against Cumbrians then? LOL got you fooled there then! (By the way i do hope that you are keeping well, good to see you posting!)

  Oh no! I won't let a Cumbrian tell me what to read where; this ain't 1984 yet, this ain't Stalinism. I read what I want to read where I want to read it.

  I think I may of answered looking at it thro' JW eyes (gasp) I stand by that it looks 'self rightous' and I do feel that it is almost on par with praying in public.

  I was recently in S'bucks enjoying a lurvly coffee, when I noticed a young lady sat very comfortably with her legs crossed, reading what was a very worn Bible....I don't know what impression these people hope to give...maybe they hope it will start a 'god/bible based conversation with someone - which would be a typical JW tactic. Maybe they just like reading the bible...whatever...

  I still would prefer people read it at home...

  Just my opinion...this is not meant to be law! LOL

  Ok , my take on 'reading the bible in public'.

  I do believe it reinforces the fact that 'I am holier than those around me' it is a showy thing to do....a bit like praying in public.

  I read the W/A on the bus etc... and I DID feel that those around me were 'no where near as holy as me'.

  This is what I feel now... looking back at that time....READING BIBLE STUFF in public makes you self -righteous...yes that's what I was.

  Leave it at home read it in private...pleeease!

  New Fe2O3Baby!!

  fe2o3baby2 was born on friday morning at 6:20am, weighed 8lb 10oz, and we are all doing well.. on thursday i had some niggly pain and light bleeding but no progression.

  i had a bath in the evening and added rose, lavendar and clary sage oil to the water.

  i was woken up by my contractions at about 2am on friday morning.

  i'm interested to know how people felt about studying this book.

  i know that they are studying it at the moment in the uk.. anyone feel that the book actually made any sense....what with all the symbolic stuff..etc..etc.

  as a child they were studying the 'babylon' book.

  I do believe they are studying this in the UK. i only know coz I just had to ring an estranged JW friend to see if she would confirm that the Tuesday group would be ending (I couldn't believe it!)

  She proudly mentioned that they were studying it again....correct me if anyone knows otherwise.

  I would happily go through this book again if I could attend and say what I really thought! Hahaha !

  we are left with ludicrous "interpretations" like the seven trumpet blasts foretelling seven "proclamations" adopted at Watchtower conventions in the 1920s.

  This is just what come to my mind when i think of this book....trumpet blasts...which nobody really heard did they? As if God would consider their (assemblies well attended granted) talks a 'trumpet blast' that everyone could hear!

  I think I could of made more sense of it if I'd had some Alcohol back then! LOL

  Time is so precious I'm just glad the group is no longer.......
