This is why it's always a good thing when you hear of "young ones leaving the 'truth'" even though the wts will have us believe it's something tragic. At least youngsters who leave still have more than enough time on their hands to make REAL accomplishments in their lives instead of passing around a microphone and being leered at by the undercover perverts and potential crazy marriage mates who will just make their lives a misery. I just feel sorry for those in their 60s and 70s who now look back and realise what could have been. I'm 32 years old and even though I'm still young I wish I had walked away a decade ago.

Like others said, you seem like a nice person so the majority will welcome you here even if you are an active JW.
Remember, apostates are FAR more welcoming towards JWs than the other way around and that's a fact. And no, contrary to what the Crooklyn Dodgers say, we don't plan to devour you or "lead you astray". If a JW is respectful towards me on a personal level I have no problem being cordial in return. It's just being human.

Just to think not too long ago in the past I would have thought this b.s. was "spiritually strengthening". You cannot 'slave' for two 'masters'. Even though there are plenty of celebrities/athletes/any talented individual from all different faiths and beliefs and they seem to be getting on just fine. But no, if you're not a "slave" (As a black person I HATE that word) of the Watchtower Corporation then you're siding with the Devil.
So basically, throw away your youth and all your natural talents out the window and become a bible bashing cultist whose only skill is giving talks and peddling magazines on a Saturday morning while everyone else your own age are studying and engaging themselves in all other activities that will actually benefit them in life. I knew a youngster in my hall who actually had a chance to have a starring role in the 2006 film Notes on a Scandal (ironic title considering.....) but was convinced not to pursue acting and pioneer instead! What a waste!

Did you watch R rated movies when you were in it?
by ldrnomo inlast night, i watched an r rated movie that featured violence.
at least 30 people were shot in the first 45 min of the movie.. while i was in and an elder, i watched r rated movies all the time just didn't talk about it.
so how many of you watched r rated movies even though "mother" said not to?.

Over here in the UK the rating system is: U, PG, 12, 15 and 18.
If I remember correctly, Titanic was rated 12 and I know a lot of witnesses walked out of that one cos of the nude scene. But I've been to watch 15 and 18 rated movies with witnesses before.

That's exactly what I was thinking. When I was in the BORG, I thought all apostates just wanted to see us beaten and slaughtered into oblivion. The truth is, WE care more for the witnesses than they do about us. Can you picture any witnesses feeling upset if they saw videos with known apostates being attacked? My point exactly.

Disgusting behaviour. There would have been terrified children in there. You don't do things like this to people just because you disagree with them.
As much as I despise this faith, I would NEVER in a million years condone or encourage this type of treatment. What gets me angry is that while the average witness is getting all the flack, the old boys in Brooklyn bethel are totally sheltered and protected without a care in the world. In fact, they LOVE things like this becase it 'strengthens' the organisation and makes them more resilient.
Oh and BTW, where was 'Jehovah' in all of this? He could supposedly send out two she bears to slaughter a bunch of kids for calling a prophet silly names but couldn't prevent this?

So angry with myself right now....

i didn't even recognise her at first because her hairstyle was different and she was wearing these oversized shades, but this is someone who was always funny with me from day one and hardly ever said a word to me even when i used to be in her book study group that was in her home back in the 90s.. anyway, she asked if it was me and then she said who she was in case i didn't remember.
she told me she saw my sister at the memorial last night (my sister who is inactive wasn't even going to attend that particular memorial, but because this f**king elder i used to hate called her out of the blue to "encourage" her to attend, she went along) blah blah blah but didn't get to speak to her for too long.. so she asked me what congregation i go to but then quickly asked if i'm still in the "truth".

Now I could kick myself for this, but like a dummy, I told her yeah me and my wife go to another congregation in another hall a few miles away but we're leaving soon. So she asked me is that the KH on such a such road, and I said no it's the double hall on another road that a well known elder attends. She thankfully didn't ask me how was the memorial or anything like that, but I asked her how her two daughters were (who I care nothing about btw but you know when you're put on the spot....) and she was like oh yeah they're fine they live in Scotland and have two children each yadda yadda yadda.
Anyway, the point I'm making is this: I've always said I would tell anyone I meet flat out that I'm not going to the meetings anymore, but today I was in my own world enjoying the warm weather while waiting for my car to get fixed and never anticipated any dubs coming up to me. In fact, most of the dubs I have seen never said a word to me so it's not like I'm even used to being approached very often. It's just that a part of me didn't want to give anyone the pleasure of having something to talk about. She probably knew that I wasn't being truthful anyway, but this is so typical of dubs. You never liked me and never said three words to me for years, so why approach me now and act all glad to see me instead of just keeping it moving? I was totally put on the spot and ended up lying, not because I was ashamed of the fact I no longer attend that mess, far from it, I just wasn't prepared today.
But I will NOT get caught out like that again!

Hell no. First time since childhood I didn't attend and I'm glad. I did something of REAL value like work on my business. The last one we attended was last year and I absolutely hated it and couldn't stand being around those dubs.
