What Do You Think About "Jehovah's" Organization?
by minimus inas witnesses, you are constantly bombarded with the expression,"jehovah's organization".... if we don't believe in jehovah's organization, we are doomed.
we must put faith in jehovah's organization.
jehovah's organization is the modern day "ark of survival"........these types of expressions have been drilled in the heads of jehovah's witnesses for decades.

How many congs were you in
by hippikon ini'm a little interested in the mobility of jw's.
they were all unique in how they applied the talmud watchtower law.
i explained that to myself as diferent congs have diferent personalities but as i saw more and more "bad stuff" can to understand there was no "god" in "gods organisation" .

Blessings or our Imagination
by JH inas a jw, we were always told that god was blessing us, because we were doing his will.
jw's saw god's hand everywhere in our lives.
if we had good news, a good job, good health, it was because god was blessing us.

I used to be amused by that expression. I mean most of them washed toliets for a living. Lived hand to mouth and had cars that ran every so often. Then to top it off they went to a zillion meetings a week only to find out they weren't doing enough.
Glad to leave those blessings behind.

Post A Message To The Troops
by DakotaRed inregardless of where any stand on the upcoming war, all have said they support the troops.
here is a chance to show that support.
this site is a board strictly for messages to the troops.

Note a note to the troops here but I thought I'd give you all a heads up. As of next monday 3 young friends of mine will no longer be able to receive phone calls or e-mails. They are in 3 different units with 3 way different jobs. They have told me that all middle east troops are cut off from communications after monday.
I think it's going down, very soon.
My message would be.....
Keep your heads down. Never be first in or last out of anything. You hear an explosion... step up next to a buddy or drop. Good luck and my best wishes are with you.

Yeah I don't wear the cowboy hat while coaching, bathing, scuba diving, boinking, sleeping or choking refs.
But I do wear it while riding a horse or driving a flat bed.

For those who became JWs as adults...
by Sara Annie inbefore i begin, it would probably be helpful for me to (in a nutshell) explain that i am not currently, nor have i ever been, one of jehovah's witnesses.
my experience with the organization is peripheral in that my extended family became heavily involved several years ago.
in maintaining a relationship with that part of the family, i had relatively extensive dealings with the jws (for a "worldly" person) for many years of my childhood and beyond (if you're at all interested, you can read the details of my experience here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/44589/626056/post.ashx#626056).

emotional state of the potential convert must be extremely important
You bet it must. When I became a witness there were several factors. I was nearing 50 years of age. I weighed about 337 pounds and was depressed and miserable. I also had just moved to Oregon and didn't know anyone. One of the first people I met was a witness. Shortly afterwards our creek washed out our road, a large group of witnesses showed up and repaired my road so we weren't stranded at no cost. They all seemed to be very nice, friendly, loving, ect ect ect.
Did I closely examine the teachings? Not really, certainly not with any literature outside of watchtower publishings. As far as I was concerned I did not have a clue as to what was really involved with being a witness. I went to meetings, got baptized and then things began to change. Suddenly people weren't as nice since I was no longer a "study". It was an eye opener.
You might think about clicking on my name here to see my DA letter which explains a bit more.
But the basics of being a witness sounded as good to me as anything else. Live forever on earth as opposed to living forever in heaven? One idea made as much sense as another.
At least being a witness got me to actually read the bible whereas I no longer trust it or have an ounce of faith in it now.

have you ever had to deal with out-of-control parents
Since I live by a small town we have our fair share of out of control fans. The parents aren't so bad. Of course there are always those who think their kid should be playing more, starter, or something along those lines. I'm very honest with them about their kids abilities. One mom told me that she thought her son would be playing in the NBA eventually. She is wrong. He doesn't start and only gets in maybe half the games we play. When questioned I told her that while her son is my favorite (I always say that) and while he's the fastest kid and best jumper on the team he has a horrible shot outside of 10 feet, forgets the offensive plays all too often and plays defense like he doesn't care. Her mouth dropped. I told her that I would be glad to open the gym for him to shoot around anytime they want. That he had to concentrate more and until he hustles on defense like he should he would always be warming the bench.
Anyway I've always felt being blunt is a good policy. No use having people wonder how I feel about something.
