At the one on North Cedar in Fresno it has three automatic gates....it looks like Fort Knox, very inviting and all. LOL. Of course the KHs in the poor neighborhoods just have a paved parking lot.....

No Trespassing Signs at KHs?
by Saoirse ini drove by a local kingdom hall today and noticed that they had put up 3 large "private property/no trespassing" signs and 2 "this area under security surveillance" signs.
i haven't heard any reports of vandalism or break-ins so i'm curious as to why they would put up signs like that.
why bother going door to door if the general public isn't allowed to enter the kh?

How up are you on the music and musical artist, hot today?
by free2beme inas i get older, i understand more the generation gap we always remembered being mentioned with our parents.
i always thought i was on top of the music scene, as i used to run a music and video store in the late 80's.
i thought it kept me on a path, that would keep me in the know of what was hot and what was not.

When I bought my Aunt Bertha a Web TV (about 12 years ago) because her husband was disabled, this was the first time she ever had access to the Internet. I even showed her how to get to the Watchtower page. LOL.
She was like 65 at the time. She got so excited and pulled out an Awake article about the Internet, and proceeded to reassure me she knew ALL about the Internet because of Jehovah's food at the proper time. LOL.
That was shortly before the device powered up and said, "Where do you want to go today?" and she bashed that little fucker to smithereens because she thought it was demonic. She couldn't get it unplugged and back into the box fast enough....I had pre-paid for a two year subscription....it went unused.

I'd appreciate some insight on what my mother claims was said at assembly
by free2beme inokay, well my mother called this evening and was all emotional about her one day assembly.
i was shocked she brought it up, as we just do not mention the religion anymore, but lately little things keep getting said at her conventions and assemblies that seem to be making this line something she wants to cross more these days.
what she brought up, was something i had not heard mentioned on here and i wanted some insight from people who actually heard it or knew more about it.

Is your mom usually that dramatic? She most like read more into what was being said--meditated on it and then took it out on you! She's most likely sincere--it's like playing telephone--the story gets bigger as it gets passed along! My mom does it, too! It can drive you nutty!
These words remind me of our friend Danny Haszard who says the WT is the "Cult of Innuendo."
Remember that they are still talking to JW who have been entrenched for 30 or 40 years. They speak in circular meanings....about 'strong' JWs and 'weak' JWs....those that are 'strong' will interpret this one way....the faders or the young people who never knew about the old-skool JW ideology will interpret in another way.....
They are especially this way now since the JW are being run by lawyers...a whole bunch of "could be" talk. Which the older ones interpret as though God shit that thought out directly. The younger ones are like...wow maybe something is coming.
The older ones hear a different message than the young ones because of their history.

Revised Letter to my Mother--Possibly the LONGEST in history...
by Confession ini posted another version of this a few months back.
at the time i asked for comments on it, and subsequently ignored almost everything anyone told me.
" others recommended a differet tone.

my mom is hardly a deep thinker on any of these topics
The same could be said of most JW followers. Deep thinking is dangerous territory, for a lot of reasons.
I once had an elder blow up on me and shout, "Don't you think I have doubts too?" However they push them into the farthest corner of their minds.

Insurance news letter from January 2004 re:hiring JW's
by schne_belly ini hope this is ok to post this news article.
its an insurance/news letter that i purchased online.
i am thinking of distributing to local hospital human resource departments to inform them of their need to ask questions when hiring people with religious views that may affect their work.

I work as an RN in a hospital with a "bloodless" program. The three employees who are the administrators of the program are all JW's. So far we have not had a patient brave enough to buck the system, but I am sure it would instantly be reported. Elders who are not employees visit the patients daily and go to the chart to document their "pastoral" care. So if there is a bloodless program near you, be sure you think through thoroughly your choices, because if you are an active JW, you will have no privacy in this matter.
It would be a kindness to reprint this article and mail it to EACH of the hospital administrators. In addition, if it's a hospital with a Community board of Directors, each of them need to see it.
With a copy of the Doctrinal flip-flops on blood.
Sheesh.

Crackdown on Marriages
by sammielee24 inthe latest rumblings are that the wtbts may start coming down hard on anyone who marries outside the faith.
jw's who choose to marry a non believer will be df'd.
i would imagine those marrying unbaptized ones will be marked or told to get the spouse baptized or get df'd.

First and foremost the WT is about MONEY.
Going off of experience in my old congregations, the sisters who had MONEY were married to non-believers, and in certain cases, active opposers.
There were 4 JW families out of 75 or so that I would classify as financially independent with a nice lifestyle.
Contrast *THAT* with the JW sis with UBMs---one raced cigarette boats as a hobby, one owned a business. They had the nice cars and houses.
So NO the JW will not bite the hand that feeds them.

The Society's Effective Strategy to Smother the Truth...
by Confession inwhen, as one of jehovahs witnesses, we found householders unwilling to listen to us, we were at times frustrated.
the comparison often made was to a burning house with people inside.
we were trying our best to warn them of danger, but usually they would not listen, often scoffing at us.
