She lives for Jah, but will Jah let her live?
by TR infrom http://www.greatcrowd.com/159ubb/forum3/html/000147.html.
i'm not the least bit afraid of being left alone, for jehovah is the one who eventually 'satisfies the desire of every living thing', and if i don't live that belief, i don't live for the kingdom.. the two things i am most afraid of is not qualifying to get there (new system) to see that promise come true, or losing sight of that promise by impatiently putting trust in my own ability to find the right guy now.. .

What would you have done without the WT?
by expatbrit inimagine that you had never heard of the watchtower.
imagine that your life and that of your families had never been influenced by wt teachings.. i know for a fact that the wt's philosophy on further education contributed to my not achieving what i should have at school.
this is not to shirk the responsibility for my grades; ultimately they were my responsibility.

You've got a good point too, Logical! Right on the top of your head!
I guess this would explain why YOU'RE not baptised.[8>]

most of us agree here that being a Witness was the worst thing that ever happened to us, why don't we give get over it and stop whining?
*US*? Who the #*@& is *US*? You got a god-damned frog in your pocket or something? Don't invoke the *us* word like you're friendly towards those who use this board and then the next statement out of your mouth, shoot down everyone else except yourself, asshole.
Because finally, the more I read this board, the more I see that ALL OF YOU ARE STILL JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES AND AT THE RATE YOU'RE GOING, YOU WILL REMAIN WITNESSES UNTIL YOU DRAW YOUR LAST BREATHE. You're struggling to exorcise yourselves, but you have failed so horribly.
So you're the *only one* on this whole freaking board who has successfully 'exorcised yourself,' yet you still hang around a bunch of x-jdubs, active j-dubs and all the other categories? Anyone who has EVER been a part of a highly structured organization will always define themself as an ex. Jesse Ventura, EX navy seal, for example. The people who use this board chose to recognize what a large part the WBTS has played in their life, and you have neither the power nor the authority to discount it.
Yeah right. I see you for what you are, a troll. And not even a good one. Your true identity shines through like a beacon in the night.
FYI I don't really give a shit about 'what could have been,' because I'll never know, will I?
But you can bet money that my daughter won't spend every weekend of her freaking childhood out selling magazines. Which is what I was doing since 1st grade. Check back with me in 10 years, we'll see how she's doing compared to how I was doing at her age. That should be a pretty objective study.
Asshole.

My Sister
by Esmeralda inafter being so close to getting a clue about the "truth",my oldest sister is way back in it, deeper than ever.. i love claire dearly, and i know that in her way, she loves me too.. i believe the problem in our relationship lies in that when it all comes down to it, at the end of the day, we don't really like each other very much anymore.
this knowledge saddens me more than i can explain.. it wasn't always this way.. we did fight a lot as children.
perhaps it's the eight year age difference.

Es,
There are also so good books out there on the birth order of children and how it affects family dynamics.
There is more to this than the JW covering; there's some deep faily stuff there too.
I wish you well.

Control the past, the present ..the future?
by MacHislopp init is my opinion that the following quotes by the wtbs.
publications, cannot co-exist , one eliminates the other, and i do.
believe that this is a another proof of "history rewritten" ..... orwellian way ...to control the past, the present and the.... future.

Hmmmm let's see.
C. T. Russell was patently of that governing body back there in the last quarter of the nineteenth century
ok, so that would be from 1875 to 1900, right?
According to the apostolic example of the first century C.E., these dedicated, baptized Christians known today as Jehovah’s witnesses have a governing body, as specifically noted from the year 1944 onward.
So, what happened from the time CTR was a member of the GB until the New Improved arrangement in 1944?
That's at least 50 years where, say, where we don't admit that we HAD a GB?
For what purpose?

Are they looking for "Rice Christians"?
by Gopher ini'm trying to get a clear "take" on this:.
the wts has often implied that their form of missionary work, concentrating on "preaching and teaching", is superior to that of christendom's.
christendom often starts out by bringing food supplies, hospitals and the like, supposedly "enticing" the natives with material goodies.

Just you wait until George dub-yah Bush gives millions to faith based charities!
Who wants to be the bank on whether the WBTS will come out and find homeless bums near Brooklyn that they've been 'feeding' for decades? all to get a piece of the pie!

Carbon-14 Dating
by Amazing inhello all: in discussing evolution, creation, and bible chronology we will at some point pass through various dating methods that challenge religious beliefs, especially that of the watch tower religion.. some years ago the watch tower society published material (i forget the actual reference) that challenged carbob-14 dating as flawed and prone to error, especially when dating fossils.
the wts cited some sources that dealt with sample contamination that may cause errors in reading half-life of carbon-14.. i wish i could find the article again, because it was published when i was still working in nuclear engineering.
i recall feeling that the wts was stretching the claims to cover the understanding of bible chronology regarding the age of homo sapiens being about 4,026 years.

UMMMMM
You had me right up to the paragraph about the Formula, LOL!
I remember being in 7th grade and being SO SKEPTICAL of Carbon dating because of one freakin article in the Awake magazine, and thinking how those evil evolutionist scientist were going to try to use it to prove evolution! The very nerve!
I must've sounded like a real genius explaing to my college educated science teachers why Carbon dating was unreliable! LOL!

NEW RELIGION! NEED INPUT!
by TR inthis is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.
we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.
we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.

Mommy,
I am no longer capable of watching a chick-flick! Too many years of exposure (courtesy of hubby) to the:
NBA
NFL
MLB
NHL
MLS
and now most recently, the XFL (although NOT really--they suck SO BAD *I* can make most of the calls! 'Offside' 'Illegal man downfield' etc)And any other acronym that represents legions of hot sweaty men running around have left me virtually useless during a chick flick!
I would be happy to serve as Ambassador of Sporting Event Spectators, and help all honest-hearted women who don't know the difference between a first down and goose down!
Now there's something I can do!

memorial: how do you feel?
by unanswered inthis question is mostly for those of you who still believe in the bible to some extent.
my mother-in-law called the other day to see if rileygurl and i were going to the memorial this year.
we told her that we wouldn't be attending.
-
LDH
Actually, the real reason I won't be going to the Memorial this year?
I wasn't invited!! No seriously, Jesus did not have all of his followers on hand to partake of his new covenant, only the 11 faithful. What are we to make of his other follwers and what they were to do on that night?
They weren't invited to even observe.
Since I honestly don't feel like I'm one of the 'annointed' or have any heavenly hope of any kind, I don't feel like Jesus expects me to be there to partake or to observe.
Thoughts?
