sd-7 does it not bother you that for such a momentous & important date in JW history Russell stole this from men who would today have been labeled as apostates? Or the fact that he embellished it with pagan emblems & ideas? Please don't waste time giving that lame "light gets brighter" crap. Certainly men who claim a direct channel to God would have been given this most important information directly. Or do you believe that holy spirit would purposely mislead his servants? This can't be true, as it violates the very core of Christianity, to love one another. Certainly we can't believe that God would mislead his true believers now can we?

Finally, at 59, I got my first. It's a traditional heart & ribbon with MOM on it. She died last year & held the party line that they were inappropriate. I'd like to think deep inside she'd of gotten a kick out of it. If you get one, spend some money on a nice one, it's going to be with you a while.

The GB is caught on the horns of a dilemma. Out of one side of their mouths, they insist that they are God's only channel of truth. Out of the other side they admit they're imperfect. Thus the need for "new light". They may need new light but certainly God doesn't. So which is it? Did Jehovah intentionally mislead them even when it caused suffering & death? If that were true to any extent, he would have to violate his own principle of love. Or are they, as we have known all along, never God's "channel". They are indeed the real apostates, and as the Pharisees, worthy of permanent destruction. Sure going to miss the bullshit.

This religion, like all religions, has some things that make sense. Those ideas & standards that I find harmonize with Bible principle, I have kept. The insidious thing about the WBTS that because of this, the R&F then buy the whole package. A clear case of " a little bit of knowledge being a dangerous thing."

Jehovah's witness meetings are NOT BORING......

i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.
i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

My mother always made us sit up front. A friend of mine always sat ahead of us. One Sunday my brother noticed Billy snoring softly with his eyes open. We begged him to teach us how to do that. I asked his wife years later if he still does that. She said yes indeed. Now there's a talent I wish I had growing up.

Interesting thread. A debate on whether Jehovah uses an earthly organization or whether individuals, on their own, can have an approved relationship with him. Bible history shows many individuals had just that. Job comes to mind. When it comes to organizations, the first criteria is proof that the organization in question has that same approval. Early followers had evidence through miracles or prophesy, things that would eventually die out with the apostles. Jesus said love would be the identifier of the approved organization or individual for that matter. Does the WBTS have that quality exclusively today. They would like you to believe that they do. In reality thousands of religions and millions of people have that quality. They help one another, give to the needy, encourage the downtrodden. In fact, the very desire to worship brings out that divine quality. Actually the GB does a better imitation of the Scribes & Pharisees leading by fear & intimidation. So before you answer that question those of you still in, keep looking over your shoulder. There is no proof at all that your organization is the one true religion, led by Jesus Christ and bestowed with Jehovah's holy spirit. You have larger issues to argue about.

I think Tuesdays are the worst days. Mondays I'm still enjoying the weekend memories, Wednesdays I'm already making plans for the next weekend, Thursdays are the days before Fridays & Fridays are the end of the week. I need to drink more on Tuesdays.
