Mass defection possible?
by stuckinamovement inthere are many of us who are trapped within the religion and are looking at leaving.
i was wondering..... if there was an organized and well publicized effort to leave the organization en-masse on a certain date yet to be determined, how many do you think would participate?.
one person leaves the org and it creates a small ripple.

UK newspaper interest in "mentally diseased", any Witnesses want to come forward?
by cedars infollowing the recent activity surrounding the "mentally diseased" apostate article, a major uk newspaper has expressed an interest in covering the story.
the correspondent as been told about this forum, and he is particularly interested in hearing from those inside the organisation, as i think few people are aware of how much unrest there is actually within witness ranks at the teachings of the society.. would anybody like to be used as a source, either anonymously or otherwise?
if so, it might be worthwhile saying a few words on this thread.

My Story: Raised as a witness since 1958. Went door to door at age 7. Grew up with the end "always near". That belief influenced every major decision in my life. Married during the scare of 1975. Assumed, as did all other Witnesses, that the end was imminent. Didn't go to college. Didn't save for a retirement. I became an elder. I was busy on the building projects. I gave talks at the conventions. After 34 years in a bad marriage, I left & found the love of my life. Told the " judicial committee" of my intentions & was promptly disfellowshipped. Had every intention of returning, but during the 4 yrs. the committee dragged its feet, I became disillusioned with the Witnesses. I went to sites like this one. I read Ray Franz's " Crisis of Conscience." I finally realized it was all a lie. If I could sue them to recover all the wasted years of my life I would.

It's nice to see things eventually work out. An old study of mine used to say " You can disagree without being disagreeable. " Too bad the GB never learned the art of dealing with human nature.

Last Weekend Ever (according to OBVES) Whatcha gonna Do?
by LostGeneration inobves says the world ends next week, meaning this is the last weekend ever!

i'm gonna step out on a limb and predict that i will have at least 1,784 more weekends before my dirt nap starts, so i'm gonna sit on my rear and watch as much college and nfl football as possible.

It must be true. I'm taking the fact that Buffalo beat the Pats this weekend as a sure sign of the end. (Which will most likely start with the destruction of all those crazy drivers in Boston.)

Are we all still FAMILY? Yes or No?
by Greybeard inhere is why, even though i no longer agree with most of what the gb/wt/jw's teach, i still feel especially close to all of us who were apart of this group.
born in or converted.
we all have had the same life experience of being raised in a over bearing mind controlling cult.

What Do You Say or Is It Better to Saying Nothing?
by Eiben Scrood ini miss some of my old watchtower friendships.
usually i can just put the people out of my mind but when a big event comes up like me expecting my first child, i did reach out a bit.
this one friend in particular was kind of like an older brother to me.

Hey Scrood; Best to leave it alone. You can't do anything to change their minds. Save your time & energy for better things.

Shunning,, let's twist the knife in a little deeper now !
by man in black inthis morning i took my dog who is a therapy dog over to the hospital and visited with several patients.
it is quite an experience, and it really helps people undergoing medical treatment to calm down and relax.. my wife was one of those patients, she is undergoing some tests before getting her gall bladder removed which will probably be sometime tomorrow.. afterwards i took the dog home, cleaned her up, and changed my clothes.
since i was alone i drove over to panara to try one of their breakfast sandwiches, several of the nurses told me that they are pretty good.

Hi MIB; I am well known throughout the area & run into JWs often. In the beginning, I would avoid them like the plague. It took a while to realize that it's them & not me that has a problem. Now, if I see them in public, I'll actually wait until others are around to walk up & say Hi. I do this loudly to attract attention. Sometimes I'll stick my hand out to shake theirs. I walk up the table they're at to say Hi with people watching. I can't tell you the satisfaction I get watching most of them slink away or stare at their feet. Try it..... eventually they'll flee at seeing you.
