I'd like to thank all of you who have been posting this information on the Watchtower's involvement with the UN. I began reading this thread a little over a week ago, and was shocked! Your efforts are not in vain, some of us R & F'ers are paying attention. The web gives us all the ability to research information related to our beliefs, pros and cons, and I, for one, am going to take advantage of this avenue of information from now on. I considered myself one of Jehovah's Witnesses up until last week when I stumbled accidently onto this site. Since then I have been plowing through every bit of information I can get about the inner workings of the Organization, and I am not happy about what I am finding out. I have been a witness for 20 years, and always had doubts and wanted to hear the other side of the issues but never had the courage to go against Society teaching about reading "other" literature. Well, I finally took the plunge, and I'm only sorry about one thing...that it took me 20 years! This is just my long-winded way of saying thank you to you guys, for taking the time and effort to post these startling truths. I only hope that other R & F's will realize that the "truth" must be able to withstand any kind of scrutiny, and if it can't, then it isn't the truth.

Well, all this fighting is giving me a headache...I've never been as glad as I am right now that men won't be responsible for judging who's a sheep and who's a goat. I'm glad Jehovah can read our hearts. I'll be searching my Bible along with my heart, and praying that I don't make too many mistakes during these difficult times. I guess the question of who's right and who's wrong will be answered when the smoke clears after Harmageddon. I'm sure of one thing...Jehovah knows what He's doing, even if we don't.

Intro's quote-o-rama
by Introspection ini guess i've been inspired by stephen's quote threads, so i'm going to start one myself.. not one particular author here, just whatever i can find:.
q: why do you think that people are so protective of their egos?
why is it so hard to let go of one's ego?.

I hate it when I project! I must apologize if I misunderstood your initial response to my comment as "caustic".
"Well, ehh, lefthand.. It isn't so much a matter of selfishness per se, but self centeredness is more like it, regarding one's own beliefs etc.. In a way, your nickname on this board explains the concept quite nicely.
Just registered and happen to find this thread did ya?"hmmmm....nope, sorry, still sounds a bit caustic to me. I guess I just don't understand your sense of humor. If I'm not mistaken, the bulk of your above response was not quotes, but, in fact, a rather transparent attempt to make me feel inferior. Opps! I seem to be projecting again.
"...the reader is projecting their own feelings into statements which does not even belong to me."
So tell me, exactly which part of the above statement doesn't belong to you?
"...they don't feel the need to hide behind a troll identity either."
huh? how, exactly, am I hiding behind a troll identity? Oh, I get it! It's your droll sense of humor again...
"wisdom cannot be contained in inanimate writing, it is found in the minds of men."
I disagree.
"For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit and of joints and their marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12
Doesn't sound inanimate to me. Well, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree...just like that black and white cookie in Jerry's stomach.

Intro,
Selfishness and self centeredness go hand in hand. And I didn't say "beliefs", I said "personal experience" thereby speaking only for myself and not anyone else. As far your Seinfeld quote, no I don't...but you obviously do. My monicur, it is simply because I am left handed just like Jerry. If you choose to read more into it than necessary, well, have fun.You asked: Why do you think that people are so protective of their egos? Why is it so hard to let go of one's ego? I think the real question should be; Why do some people feel the need to attack others just to bolster their own egos? I'm sorry you felt that you were being personally attacked by my heart-felt comment. Perhaps you should ask yourself why you feel so threatened by others. Try to be a bit more compassionate towards those of us with lesser IQ's. You are, after all, posting in the Mental Health and Depression forum...some of us may not be able to handle your somewhat bulling and caustic attitude toward others.
As Jerry says, and I paraphrase: Keep in mind the black and white cookie, existing in harmony. We should all strive to be like that cookie.
"Get out!" - Elaine from Seinfeld
"For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it is written; "He catches the wise in their own cunning."

Hey, Intro
Deep stuff! But it's been my experience that if the demons want to get to you, and you aren't protected with a stronger force...they will get to you. They are, after all, super-human. They don't need an empty mind to get in, just an idle one thinking selfish thoughts. -

I knew it! The doctors told me people weren't really laughing at me behind my back, but now I know....they are. And by the way, how come we don't have a smiley face icon to pick from???? or a frowney face???? And would somebody please explain to me the reason those guys are posting quotes in the depression and mental illness forum??? Aren't we already messed up enough without more wise advice from people smarter than us?

I'm confused...I don't know whether to try to cheer you up or let you drag me down with you. Or perhaps I might drag you down with me. O.K., now I'm really confused. To make matter worse, this is my first post...I'm probably committing some terrible mistake that will make me an outcast from the entire internet! Then no one will talk to me and I'll be forced to talk to myself. Then people driving by in cars will laugh and point at me as I walk down the sidewalk waving my hands in the air whilst having an animated discussion with myself...well, at any rate, your brief comment actually cheered me up some. I 've always preferred a twisted sense of humor.
