the shadow lurkers
by msil inthis was the first house i ever knew...when mom came home from the hospital...this was it.
i waited all those months to get into this world and come and live here...a peaceful home.
i had some toys and spent my days learning to ride my tricycle and then progressed onto learning to ride my beautiful blue bicycle which dad had brought home as an end-of-year gift for me.

Andee,
When I line up all of the tramatic events of my childhood and adolesence, I am amazed I'm not locked away in a padded cell never to be heard from again.
That's exactly what I feel!
I had a nervous breakdown 6 years ago due to what I suffered when I was young. It took 9 months of psychotherapy to get me started on the road to recovery.Lesley

Thank you very much,
We are going to a firework display in our local park this evening. It will be the first time for our 3 children, and they are really excited! We will be leaving in a little while, once my husband's parents and 2 of our children's friends get here.
We will be visiting the U.S. in a couple of weeks and we will get to know what Thanksgiving is like too!

Time out ....................................
by nicolaou intake a break.... close your eyes.....and go back in time.... before the internet and dvd's.
before semi-automatic machine guns, joyriders and crack .... before sega, ps2 or super nintendo...way back..... i'm talking about hide and seek in the park.
the corner shop, hopscotch, butterscotch, skipping, handstands, football with an old can, bulldog, beano, twinkle and roly poly, hula hoops, jumping in enormous puddles and building dams... when astro wars, 'computer' tennis, pac-man and donkey-kong ruled.... the smell of the sun and fresh cut grass.

I'm a useless Apostate :(
by NewbieGirl ini've been lurking here for a while now, posted a handful of times, but this board has had a profound effect on me.. i have just finished reading coc which i would never have even heard of if it wasn't for this board.. anyway, in light of everything i have learned here, i have been waiting expectantly for the next unsuspecting jw's to knock on my door, just so i can er, 'enlighten' them.. about 15 minutes ago, just that happened.
i answered a knock on my door to be confronted by two jw's.
one of them i remembered vaguely from a neighboring cong, and the other was someone i knew pretty well from my old cong.. so what did i do?
-
Lesley
Hi NewbieGirl,
I'm the same, I think I'm going to say this or that to any JWs I come across but do I - NO!
I had a phonecall from the sister I studied with from my old congregation, after I wrote to tell her that I am now disassociated, I wanted to tell her about the UN stuff and what I am reading in COC, but I couldn't! She kept saying about the new system and how I won't be there, so in the end I said that's if you believe it which I don't!!!She said goodbye quite quickly then! She is not particularly strong in 'the truth' but she is still brainwashed. I guess I may not hear from her any time soon!Anyway, hopefully soon we will be really good apostates and live up to our name!!!!

p.s. What part of the UK are you from? We're in Northamptonshire, but used to live in Milton Keynes.

Finding Old Friends
by individuals wife injust found a brilliant website for us brits - i think you have an equivalent in the us though.. .
http://www.friendsreunited.com.
once you register, which is free and very easy, you enter the name of your old school, primary, secondary or both and it gives you details of kids you went to school with, what they did after they left, what job they are doing now, whether they got married and had kids, etc.

Hi individuals wife
I've entered my husband Steven's details (I believe you spoke to him in chat once). He went to the same school as me but was 2 years below me.
We met when he was in lower 6th and I had been left school 2 years! boy did I get some stick for dating a schoolboy! We've been together for 17 years so all those who disapproved were wrong, especially my lovely mother-in-law who found it difficult that I was dating her son when I was such a terrible older woman!

Thanks for letting us know about this website. It is brilliant.
I found details of a lad I used to know, who I couldn't locate for a school reunion 8 years ago. It was great to see my old friends listed. This has made my day!
Thanks a lot!

Favourite Live Performer:
by Englishman ini've seen loads of live acts, back when i was a "young person asking" i watched the crystals, heinz, johnny kid and the pirates, brenda lee, joe brown and others all on one show.
so very innocent!.
come my eventual departure from dubdom, i resolved to see all these bad people playing their music live.

Lesley
Englishman,
I love listening to Lesley Garrett although my husband and kids can't understand why! I just love opera music. Most people think I'm strange because of this so I don't always like to admit it!
