  WARNING to anyone considering purchasing a VW from 1997 - on

  i am at the end of my rope with my 2002 vw jetta gls.

  i traded in my 1997 vw jetta (which had tons of problems....i'd just figured i'd gotten a bum car and decided to give the new jetta's a try).

  I own a 1996 Toyota and just gave it to my daughter for college. It is the best car I have ever had. I have never put one cent into it, except routine maintenance. I own a 2002 Honda Civic. It is a great fun car to drive. The Toyota gets alittle better gas mileage, but the Honda is a nicer looking car. Can't go wrong with either one. My insurance went up with the Honda $170 a year. Good luck and get away from those VW's they suck!!!! Personally I would never own a VW because of who began the business. Just a weird thing about me.

  Hello....

  i've been lurking in this site for about a week now.

  i didn't know something like this existed or else i may have come sooner.

  i'm a bit selfish for making this my first post, but i'd like to introduce myself and get some feedback if possible.. my parent's became jehovah's witnesses when i was eight years old, so i was for the most part "raised in the truth".

  First welcome to the board. There is a lot of healing that can take place in talking to others that have similar backgrounds. For myself I left over 7 years ago and all these years felt the same as you do. I really felt like a fish out of water. People that I work with just would not understand the lingo that is in your head. The healing for myself began (and I really didn't think I needed it) when I started reading on this board and others. I didn't even realize that the gunk was still in my brain. But when you think about it you are brainwashed for years so it is going to take some time to clean it out. I didn't even question things until I came here and read the real "truth". Keep coming back and we are all looking forward to your postings.

  there's an open invitation to all who would like to attend the annual convention in the mountains of pennsylvania for xjw's!

  it books rather quickly and will be held on october 17-19th, fri.- sun.

  there are accomodations on the grounds of the blue mountain christian retreat and they are very inexpensive.

  My daughter ( JW) called me today!!!!!!!

  every one knows( regulars on board) that my jw daughter didnt speak to me for 10 years- the when my melanie was dying in 1999,she heard i was having back problems & having a hard time lifting my melanie...she told that person she would be willing to come & help if she had the money( she lives in montreal i live in ontario) so i called her bluff & sent the money for her fare.she stayed to help my daughter 10 days.

  then when my daughter died -3 days after she left.

  she spoke to me on the phone said she was sorry- ( all the time she was here religion was not discussed -when christians came to visit mell she would walk out)although she worked real hard while here.

  I am so happy for you to hear from your daughter. Mom's always will love their kids regardless of the control of this silly religion. I am also sorry to hear of your loss of your other daughter. My heart goes out to you. I sure hope that she continues to at least check in on you from time to time.

  i have to say that at one time i wouldn't even consider reading material at a discussion group like this one.

  but in the last two years, discussion groups like this one have been indispensable to my dealing with a very personal crisis of faith, and i want to thank the brave and loving persons who sponsor sites like this, and the brave and loving persons who participate in them.

  like many here, i was raised as one of jehovah's witnesses and never questioned the validity of the wbts view.

  Dear Tech:

  I really enjoyed reading your experiences. As was mentioned by a previous post leaving is many times an emotional roller coaster ride. Keep on the ride till the end and you will be free. Leaving is also a process..just like being brought into the fold was also a process.

  Keep posting and talking there is a lot of healing that can take place talking to others that have had similar experiences. Enjoy the ride to freedom!!!!!! Thanks for sharing with us.
