  Speaker Podiums at the KH

  for some strange reason i started thinking about the fact that i've never seen a speaker podium like the ones used at the kh anywhere aside from the kh.

  you know what i'm talking about...those tall spindly legs supporting a small table and then a bible holder thing attached to that.

  are those made specifically for the kh?

  For along time my family only sold to JW's. Now they have opened it up to others, since there is a large market for speaker stands, and other misc furniture. I do believe most of their business is still JW's.

  Your question about what would happen if there was competition? I am not sure, but my family has been in the business since the 60's so have pretty much sewn up all the competition. They even send speaker stands to Kingdom Halls all over the world. Like I said it supports three families in comfortable lives now.

  My family makes them. It is from a business named Fisher Enterprises begun by my grandfather. Now my cousins have inherited this very profitable business. Of course, I haven't spoke to any of them in years since I DA'd myself.

  Did the JW life, cause anxiety?

  often i heard the elders say, "when a person is physically sick, they should go see a doctor, and in the same way, when you're spiritually sick you should go see the elders".

  so, they compare themselves to doctors.... so, for the sake of it, let's say a jw went to see a doctor and complained about anxiety due to jw meetings and their way of life, and being stressed because the watchtower asks too much.. now lets say the doctor would say, the cause of your problems is your religion, stop going and you'll feel better !

  so, you go tell the elders that the root of your anxiety is the meetings and field service and all the stress related to the jw religion.

  Because of the stress that has been noted, meetings, talks, preaching etc....thus the reason that there is a high rate of mental health issues with many in the borg. They look at the anxiety that they have, and basically are told it is a failure on their part. Whether that be not spiritual enough, not relying on Jeh, not praying enough...the list goes on and on. No one tells them that this way of life produces anxiety, and that their feelings are a common reaction.

  this will probably apply to few here, but to me it'll always be that way.

  it's the what if syndrome maybe, but it's always there.

  i still think that as a core belief system the jw's have it right, even if their delivery isn't always right.

  For me personally if I had to live under their explanation of the "New System of Things" I would kill myself. Living forever under a dictator of rules and procedures forever would be like being a Stepford Wife.

  in sept. km under announcements, loving provision from jehovah, elders are being reminded to make the yearly visit to all those that have been df or da.. make sure you have some good coffee or a six pack for them.. treat them kindly and with respect, the gb is very much interested in all those that they kicked out.

  i remember many years ago, a sister in her 40's who just joined, told me that i looked like a jw.

  she said i have the face of a jw.... .

  i've never been so insulted in my life.....

  Hmmm seems intersting since I run a social service program, and we have witnesses that come and take all they can get. It isn't likely that the "brothers" will provide food if they are in need.

  I am so sorry to hear of your loss, and especially the way that you found out about it. Please do not go back to substance abuse, the only person that will get hurt is you. I am thinking of you!!!
