  urghhh... what a disgusting study!7 a conflict of loyalties may arise when a close relative is disfellowshipped.

  for example, a sister named anne received a telephone call from her disfellowshipped mother.

  the mother wanted to visit anne because she felt pained by her isolation from the family.

  i've been confronting my mother with her dubious parenting skills (abuse) of me as a child.

  particularly the beatings i would get with the wooden spoon.

  not a light smack but hitting me as hard as she could for as long as she could.

  It was a generational thing. JWs had no moratorium on spankings. School teachers could spank you in my day. Principal had a wooden  paddle with holes in it.

  Betcha didn't act like a fool in the grocery store, curse at adults, or kill your peers just because.

  watchtower teaches jws that christ's presence began invisibly in 1914. they also teach that the start of christ's presence coincides with the start of the last days.

  whether you believe in the bible or not, watchtower claims these teachings come from the bible.

  so does the bible actually agree with them?

  Object and Manner of Our Lord’s Return (1877) .... Russell's assertions are utterly ridiculous.

  That was Russell. When his prediction that the rapture would occur in 1914 after the 1800's fiasco failed, he went with 2nd Advent minds of his day and made it an "invisible" presence which is wholey unscriptual.

  I believe the 1874 date came from Nathan Barbour.

  What's Peter hanging back during the arrest have to do with "reaching out"? I'm confused????? Was he supposed to go intervene and get sandal stomped by Roman soldiers?

  Too bad they don't follow what Christ says ... ever. They give reason to be ignored. Anyone calling themselves followers of Christ, yet make rules that supercede his, shows they think they know better than Christ ... these people are to unequivocally be ignored if not shunned for their vain insolence.
