what scriptures support the story that the "truth" will be lost till "the time of the end" and that just a random would "rediscover" it?
with the increasing number of young ones leaving "the truth", it is critical to brainwash them regularly from young!.
monday, may 16. the one who has dealings with the stupid will fare badly.—prov.
13:20.. a child could drift away gradually on a spiritually dangerous path, being tempted by harmful association or degrading entertainment.
Kids don't "appreciate" more meetings, more lectures, more sit still time. It's apparent that the one giving this child rearing advice doesnt have any children.
it has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.
Prologos, I always thought that whole age thing was stupid. Seriously who were they to base Christ's blessings on age groups? Or to say what year Heaven was "shut"??? It was plain made up BS. If Christ is picking and choosing, then he picks who he wants, not who the hell some imperfect men want.
The GB of JWs have shown absolutely no proof that they have the Holy Spirit, let alone were chosen to open their mouths and speak for God. It's beyond vain.
I've thought about it for a while. Biblically speaking, whenever God wanted something said he picked and sent someone. That someone was sent with a message but also with the power to prove (by some miraculous acts) that God had sent him.
Moses, Elijah et al, Daniel, Jesus. These could actually prove they were sent to speak on God's behalf. Later the Disciples were given power by the Holy Spirit to prove they had been chosen to bring people to Christ. Healing the sick and such.
Without proof, anybody can say they're 'speaking for God'. The JW hierarchy has no proof whatsoever. The GB of JWs doesn't seem to even have the ability to properly teach (from what those video clips show). They have no power to heal, can't prophesy, pretty much nothing.
Their whole "generation" thing is wrong, imho, and again they have absolutely no proof that it's right or that they were 'directed' to say such. Their memorial of Christ is so wrong, imho, that there's no point in even attending.
These guys are simply men like all others. But unlike most others they make glorious claims without any proof. They hang heavy burdens on those trying to know God. No one needs to wash up to their elbows but they've taken that insanity to the color of socks. Their message is one of doom and gloom, not the message of peace, love, and salvation.
They forget that if we want to know what Jesus said or did, we could read the NT. We don't need them for any of that. We don't need dumb rules. We don't need fear of never being good enough, we don't need thoughts that we can work to gain the "gift" of salvation (if you can work for it, it's a payment owed not a gift), and we don't need the constant negative judgement, ridiculous talks, the lying to everyone, and false dates.
Prove Christ chose you. Prove you even have a drop of Holy Spirit.
I want some real proof or they're just another false prophet who came along to lead people astray.
End Biblically speaking.
"jesus was obviously speaking about those who were old enough to witness with understanding what took place when the 'last days' began.
... even if we presume that youngsters 15 years of age would be perceptive enough to realize the import of what happened in 1914, it would still make the youngest of 'this generation' nearly 70 years old today.
" awake!
They all died without seeing a thing occur. Therefore, WTBTS has it wrong IMHO; those folks are not "THE this generation".
And that means 1914 is as meaningless a date as 1874, 1975, and 2016.
Of course, it would be silly for Bible believers to insist that God would be on man's timetable. (A 365 day Mayan one at that.) Those wild n crazy 1800's 'Mercans.
we have a bethel speaker on the english side.
they're pretty regular up here since it's only three and a half hours drive from nyc.. but this is a special kind of visit.. it turns out he's involved in doing a special research project and the christian congregation of jw's wants to know us better.. in order for the broadcasting to address issues more meaningful for families, they want to know the demographic make up of the congregations.. he spoke with the secretary about young single publishers and couples 20-35 y.o.
how are they employed.
He's either up to some mischief or trying to appear relevant so as not to get the boot.
You think they are going to guilt "donation" tithes?
They would know better most congregations' situations if they visited a few yearly and unannounced.
myself and my peers in the jw organization in the 1960`s discouraged our children from entering into competitive sports because of the jw policy , regarding that scripture .. has their been a radical change since then ?
a re-interpretation of that scripture ?.
why i ask this question is : here in victoria australia where afl football ( aussie rules ) is often regarded as a religion , especially to the state, victoria , we have, according to the media , a devout jehovah`s witness playing professional afl football at a competitive level.. and at their latest win , the team , including alec rance a jw of the richmond club was enthusiastically singing the club victory song along with his teammates on their win .. are their other examples of this in other parts of the world or is this an australian hiccup.. smiddy.
The Williams sisters.
In high school I played team sports ... nothing was ever said about it.

Whomever is a part of the "generation" has to see everything occur, not just some of it.
From my perspective, none of those folks are a part of the "generation" spoken of. And 1914 is plain silly, invisible presence .... pffft!
official current list as published by watchtower >>> here.

Ah, so that's their Holy Spirit???? It's the only "helper" spoken of by the Apostles and Christ.
Poor choice in titles, imo.
i know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.
my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.
i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.
