  it occurs to me, if i was starting from scratch choosing a religion or belief system to join, there's one good question i should like answered first:.

  does this religion promote a way of life and view of the world that would be satisfying even if not a single word of its doctrines are true?

  if jws honestly answered that question i doubt many would say it's a good choice.

  I don't think Rvelations is all that difficult. It's pretty much Isaiah, Daniel, and Ezekiel combined.

  But you know the Writing department. They have no contextual knowledge of the Bible at all. They've had so much fun taking scriptures out of context to fit some whack nut view for so long, their reality is a fantasy of their own drunken minds.

  It should be loads of fun to read.

  Well, there's no proof to any of the GB's claims; never has been. It's pretty much all "because I say so" with nothing to back it up. Simply self appointment.

  Faithful and discreet Slave - because I said I am

  God's channel of communication - because I said I am

  Christ's substitutes - because I said I am

  (G)aurdians (O)f (D)octrine - because I said I am

  Glorious Ones - because I said I am

  Don't question about it me either.

  They are 'end times' fenatics. Their message is strictly doom and gloom. There's no light load, rest, or peace with end timers. A lot of drinking tho'.

  Over 100 years of wild speculation on a worldwide scale leading to the flagrant destruction of their memberships' lives. From the rebranding of the failed 1914, to Rutherford's failed 1925, to Fred Franz failed 1975 (yes, Fred himself gave the Feb 1975 Convention address in LA's Sports Arena espousing that crazy mess) ... then blaming the false prophesy whooplah on low members errant "expectations".

  They began that way and will end that way. It works for them.

  so can someone clarify this please?.

  the claim has been made that the gb is the faithful and discreet slave.

  especially was this highlighted during the agm (when the silver bible was released).. but are they now saying that this "appointment" isn't happening until the "great tribulation"?.

  Yeah, they said the "faithful slave" won't be known until a future time.

  (As for authority, slaves don't have any, they're property.)

  It'll change back, imo. It seems to me some sort of legal ploy to get out of responsibility in the various lawsuits and trials.

  my rant tonight is against the quasi religious apologists that post on this board.

  those who at once rail against the jw's then later talk about how "orderly" and "neat" the witnesses are at their conventions.

  those who site the benefits of bloodless surgery to some who have the luxury and time to actually make an educated choice, while ignoring the tens of thousands who've died because they happen to be in an accident or succumb to a disease for which there is no other treatment.. i understand the power of cognitive dissonance.

  Hmmm. I'd say each will react differently to ttatt. At first discovery, apathy, then anger, then confusion, etc. The real person was being suppressed along with the ability to analyze. I can't dislike them because they are us and they, like us, are here for a reason.

  Also, just because you no longer are caught in the snare doesn't mean everyone still caught is some monster to be despised. It's okay to say something nice from time to time, even about your enemy. It puts you on higher ground. Plus, JWS don't get much internal positive comments, it's all negative.

  Besides, the mind can't let everything go at once or you'll have a nervous breakdown. It let's go a bit at a time.

  however, he concedes such people may feel guided by jehovah's witness literature.. but vince tylor said he knew of members who would trawl though obituaries to find grieving people, or visit cemeteries.. "not only do we see watchtower printed material suggesting and supporting writing letters from obituaries such as what jean received, but we even have reports and articles of encouragement for jws to go to cemeteries to look for people as well.".

  Guy was mean spirited that's for certain. However, I would reserve saying he was a chicken hawk from one account. Usually the sexually depraved assault many children / women who for them are like a bag of potato chips. You can't have just one.

  it looks to me as though they are saying don't play at a higher level because your then in competition?

  so if i'm correct what if any bible scriptures can be used to back up this anti competitive idea and are there other scriptures showing the opposite?.

  King David would have a huge sad about the violin playing youngster. Do we think he made all those songs (psalms) to the tunes of crappy harp players? Do we believe there was no process to choose who would play music in the court of the King?

  JW spiritual music is devoid of any feeling and originality. Enough to make any omnipotent diety hearing it scream in agony.

  And how can one "down" competition while proclaiming the virtues of "running the race for life", the biggest competition there is? Isn't everyone trying to win that? You don't win if you don't compete.

  Poor kid. Hell end up a janitor making minimum wage when he could support himself using his skilled musical talent in a local orchestra.

  Why suck the joy out of every aspect of life?

  Rutherford said those 7 blasts were fulfilled in the 7 conventions (Cedar Point anyone) back in the day when Jesus chose JWs to be 'special'.

  No worries, according to past "light" there's no real action going to happen they simply symbolize some talks from a platform. Depending on one's view, that's either a serious disappointment or a good thing in a laid back way.

  What, it's changing again?

  My new commentary is that we are living not in the "last days" but at the end of the 1000 year reign. Satan's about to be let loose (so no he wasn't in the smurfs) and the naughty will be in high gear drawing followers after themselves and away from Christ. Also, too, no petting large smelly wildlife surrounded by flies until after the naughty have disappeared forever ... and the flies.
