"well beyond the intent of the scriptures" 7:44
by biblexaminer inif you have the jw app running on your tablet, watch the latest (may) governing broadcast and hear tony the jackass, and when you get to 7 minutes and 44 seconds ...hit the pause button.. read the words at the bottom of the screen as per the jw app close captioning.. "well beyond the intent of the scriptures" .
he is describing the governing body past, like the ghost of christmas past.
yes, the governing body past were a bunch of freaking yahoo's violating 1 cor.

So "by extension" everyone was going beyond the things that are written. -

Are the anointed really "lovely people"?
by purrpurr ini've personally never met any of those who claim to be anointed but the other jw's who have are always unanimous in their praise of how lovely and what wonderful people they are.
and i don't mean the gb i mean common or garden anointed.
i was told that when they speak about being in heaven that they almost "seem to glow".. is this right?

I knew an elderly sister. She was nice enough but she cursed like a sailor. Didn't attend many meetings either. It was attested to her age.
Close relative. 60 something. In the early stages of alzheimers. Quite judgmental and somewhat negative.
It was mentioned that they did not see themselves on a paradise earth but we're observing it otherworldly (from heaven?). That's how they knew they were annointed.

Here's a view on homosexuality for you...
by konceptual99 in...right from a pro-jw site in response to a post about the relative seriousness of homosexuality.
all you can do is reason from the scriptures, which you appear to have done.
homosexuality is as serious as bestiality, or adultery and fornication.

She should have used her foot.
As for homosexuality it's never given as a higher sin. In fact lying(giving false witness), not respecting your parents, adultery, etc are all given the same weight.

To help our brothers displaced by the Fort McMurray wildfires you can donate to ...
by hoser inworldwide work fund.
yep they read a letter today after the sunday morning meeting.
they were also highly encouraging people to volunteer to go to the fort to clean up brothers houses.

Volunteer to help clean the houses? Why not send the Bethelites? There's thousands of young healthy men there. In fact, they should already be there needing only skilled persons to volunteer.
A (standing) burned out house is not structurally safe to just go in and start cleaning. Also, special equipment and suits are needed because of all the general household chemicals burning together.
Then if a chemical water mixture was used to put out the fires .... dangerous mold.

They went "beyond the scriptures" in just about everything. Pretty much just making things up. Including the claim of being picked to be God's reps on Earth. That's a polite way to say they were wrong and had no business telling anyone such foolish non-existent things.
Biblically speaking there's no such thing as "God's earthly organization". It's simply a way for some to to Lord over other believers in Christ; a kind of priest/laity hierarchy. Nicolatians of sorts.
Christ has a Congregation/Church but that is every Christian on earth, not just one group of them.
They need to just stick with the Bible in CONTEXT and stop jumping around scriptures and half scriptures in a state of perpetual confusion.

Gorby says goodbye
by Gorbatchov inmy eyes for ttatt opened in 1995 with the generation change and the wt magazine stated "some witness thought that the generation started in 1914".
since 1997, with internet at low speed, i followed h2o hourglass, www.xjw.com and later on www.jehovahs-witness.net.. did a bachelor and post bachelor since then.. now, nearly completed with fading, i feel it's time to go on with my life and do some other things, spending more time with my wife abd children instead of thinking about jw topics in my head.
goal is being a better person and less grumpy at 45.... everything what could be said is already said.

Gonna miss your posts but we know that true freedom is when we let the past go. Go with a happy heart. Time waits for no one.
I wish you and your family the best.

When Disaster Strikes
by NeverAllowestobeMyself injehovah's witnesses repeatedly report that when disaster strikes they are the quickest to respond, the most organized relief agency and they provide superior support to their members and the affected community.. they make it sound like organizations such as the red cross are completely in disarray every disaster until jehovah's witnesses show up and show everyone how it's done!.
in the wake of recent disasters around the globe i would like to encourage everyone to share experiences of people showing genuine love to their neighbors, communities going the extra mile and organizations doing brilliant work..

Building fire (dwellings). Red Cross came with water, blankets, prepaid credit cards (to purchase food/clothing), and hotel vouchers. They also pay first months rent for anyone needing an apartment and can get them quickly on disaster placement. (No initial paperwork to move in).
Elderly ladies from a nearby Church drove by and handed out 50 dollars (per person) to fire victims.
No sight of JWs and I (active then) and another person got no aid from WTBTS.

Don't Want To Be At The RC This Year...
by JW_Rogue inthe whole time i'll just be thinking about what effect all those crazy loyalty videos will have on my family.
i can venture to guess that they'll be wound up and determined to "stay loyal" because this "is the truth" and "this system can't last much longer".
i have to go because not doing so would raise too much suspicion but i'm really dreading it.

Let's see:
1. Insist you have a taste for chilli the day before or drink lots of water. This facilitates bathroom runs.
2. Your legs keep going to sleep or the seat is making your back hurt. This is actually normal.
3. Someones perfume is too strong. You need fresh air to stay alert.
Etc

My son has a very significant interview today..
by Captain Schmideo2 inhe is just days away from graduation with his bachelor's in english, and today, he has an interview with a recruiter for an agency that help with finding teaching positions in south korea.. i took it upon myself to research the company and his interviewer, and it's been high marks all around on both of them.
so that's a great ease on my mind.i just hope the interview (over the phone) goes well, and results in the next steps to getting a position.my son spent a month in seoul last summer, an loved the place.
he has friends out there as well, including a young man that he attended classes with here in the states, so i think that's a real plus in taking this very giant leap.when i was his age, i was slowly working my way through a two year degree, still living at home, and aspiring to nothing more than a job as a repairman.
