  I can't stop eating..

  the last few days i have been on an eating binge.

  Does hollywood affect peoples view of history and world events?

  how much do you think movies, effect people knowledge of history or even world events today?

  there was a programme on channel4 a fews weeks back basically revealing conspiracy theroies about jfk assasination to be a load of nonsense.oliver stone defended his film (which this programe had torn apart) by saying well people know its just a film and dont believe everything in movies.

  but his missed a vital point , what if the film is all a person knows of that event.

  And in fact do some people then base their world view, without even realising it, on what they see in the movies?

  I'm addicted to 'true story' movies. If a true story comes on tv, 9 times out of 10 I will be watching it. BUT, I know how Hollywood is when it comes to movies also. So, what I normally do, is watch the movie and then do web searches to find out the facts behind the movie. I never trust a movie to give a totaly accurate account.

  They just announced the 2nd USA hostage has been executed

  they are taking the reports off aljezzera but say they need more evidence.. it appears the uk hostage has no chance and will be the 3rd, his family have just been on the tv condemning the prime minister for the iraq war and asking for his resignation.

  but what can a prime minister do?

  surrender to the sicko's commands?

  stereotyping IMO is wrong. You can't judge a whole nation based on a few people. I was guilty of this for a while myself. I thought all Muslims were bad based on the few who take it to the extreme. (Tawhid and Jihad) Not anymore. Not since I met someone who is and started asking questions about his religion. He isn't from Iraq, but from Jordan, but he is still Muslim non the less and he is a very nice person from what I know of him so far.

  I try my best to keep an open mind, but, it isn't always easy.

  i didn't realize anyone may be concerned about me, but i guess i disappeared pretty fast and some folks have been a bit worried.

  so i just wanted to start a topic and let y'all know i am fine.

  puter problems meant i had to shut down, so i disconnected from the internet for a few months.

  i am canning today.

  i got rid of all my jars, my pressure cooker and other canning paraphernalia years ago.

  it seemed so silly to can anything for dave, myself, and our one remaining child at home.

  Freedom of religion is a good thing. Just think about it. What if JW was the religion of our country and you had to be that or nothing. Thank your lucky stars that we have freedom of religion.
