Do they still tell jw children that if they accept blood its like letting the doctor rape them? I remember being told that over and over and over again.

I got my mother to say animals evolved !
by cookiemaster ini wanted to share with you guys the argument i had today with my mother.
i've been away last week in a far away city for my college exams.
i've been staying at a friend, a jw who, just like me, is actually an atheist and doesn't believe a word the wt says and knows it's a bullshit cult but because of his family and friends he still stays in.

Cookiemaster, this is great!
My grandfather tried to get a sensible answer out of my mother about the whole evolution vs creation thing (my grandparents are non-jw). He asked "what about animals adapting to their surroundings". She said "yes they can adapt, but that's not the same as evolution".
My grandparents can't understand what went wrong. They are both well-educated people and so are both of my uncles. My mother left home at 16 and went to work on sheep and cattle stations right up the northwest of australia to be close to nature or god. Then she met the jws and joined up with them, and now she refuses all logical reasoning.

WT Study, Sunday 6th July 2014.
by skin init might be the way i think and see, but the first time i looked at the image on pg 27 of the april 15th watchtower i was trying to figure out how it applied to this study.
this is a darkened black and white image that appears in my edition of this magazine, (its colour online).
anyway, para 9 talks about a brother that had an issue with looking at online porn.

I remember my mother studying one of the youth books with me. (It was one of the older ones that had a chapter about masturbation.)
The problem was she didn't seem to be able to explain what masturbation was to tell me not to do it! *smirks*

Pets aren't people, says speaker at Regional Convention. Fido and Mimi better watch out! And instead of drinking wine or beer go do some gardening or play golf.
by oppostate ina big discussion driving back from the regional convention about what exactly was meant about pets.. the warning was obvious to me.
don't get pets, they cost time and money and you would do better to spend your time and money supporting the organization and going in field service.. as to the wine and beer, because the bro during his soliloquy admitted that the first thing he would like to do is relax after a hectic day at work with a glass of wine or beer, his conscience was traumatized.
however he came up with a perfect idea, he'd go tend the garden (obviously a solution for a married bro) or hit some golfballs at the driving range (maybe he's not married).. maybe jesus should have told the wine guzzlers at cana to sober up and go till the fields.. .

The CO at my mother's pioneer school about 20 years ago definitely seemed to have regard for pets.
He told the school that if any of them had left a pet chained up or without the food, water and shelter it needed, then they had no business being at the pioneer school.

She is Going to Talk to the Elders About My Questions...What Should I Expect?
by HeyThere inso one of my in-laws, a born in dub, started asking me questions about the issues i am having with the religion.
so i told her, rather carefully, how i discovered all the child pedophile cases, went over some of the case details, explained it is occurring all over the world, so isn't just some random misunderstanding, but is widespread hiding of child sex u all abuse.
she was horrified.

Oh, and I just remembered, there was a WT about seven or eight years ago about the danger of women who "speak against the congregation". I think that included women asking questions.

A group from the cong I grew up in did a trip to Border town and a few years later a trip to Coober Pedy (both in South Australia).
The Coober Pedy trip was in my teens, and by then I had some questions and a lot of mental illness stuff going on. I felt so trapped the whole time we were there!

Are you an "apostate"?
by cedars ini'm quite new to this site, and i've noticed that many of you are more than happy to call yourselves "apostates", even though many of you evidently believe in the bible and in jesus as saviour, etc.. i'm aware that the society brands anyone who disagrees with them as being an "apostate", but just because they choose to do this, does this mean we should be comfortable with being so branded?
should we "bend over" and take it?.
here is what the insight book says on apostasy:.

When I'm talking to jws or x-jws online I will describe myself as an apostate so you all know where I stand.
If I'm talking to people who don't have this background I describe myself as an antitheist.

I only just found this thread, so maybe most of you won't see my post.
Son of a preacher man, I remember rurals. I also remember big rural trips where a group of us would be shoved into a few station wagons and go somewhere further away for a few days to help a small cong out in the middle of nowhere.
Brinjen, I've been to darwin a couple of times, but only since I left the JWs to go and visit my non-JW uncle and auntie. My mother has often talked about wanting to "serve where the need is greater" and one of the places she was considering was somewhere in the NT I think. The other place she had in mind was Derby. She seems to have this thing about going and witnessing to the Aboriginal people.
Hi Penny, I'm in Adelaide too.
Is anyone else here from SA?
