What is their official explanation for not allowing beards?
by keyser soze ini ask because my gf, who knows all about my jw upbringing, convinced me to grow a goatee, just to see how it looks.
we both decided it looked good so i decided to keep it.
i tried to explain to her that as a jw, i wasn't allowed to grow one, but then drew a blank when she asked me why.

I think the fuss about beards is a joke when every illustration they have in the publications show Jesus and othe biblical characters with beards, CLEARLY sending the message that it was OK for Jesus to grow a beard but PLEASE do not follow his example! Sorry but this bloody cult is purely for morons who would rather follow the asshole of the lemming in front of them of the cliff than realize what it amounts to is they're just following some asshole. -

I now hate being called 'sister'
by purrpurr insince waking up i find i am bridling at being called 'sister'.
but it feels like an identity that is being forced on me.. i feel like shouting "i have a name you know!".

Agrred. They took a shot at it several times and ended up with egg on their face (as an Org) on every occasion. I think attempting to give a "good witness" will not be their strategy now, but rather damage control which in my opinion will take on the façade of a timid and complacent organization receptive to suggestions for policy change.All they would need to do to retain the sheeple is explain the changed policy as working with authorities as commanded by the bible ....
