I can't wait for it to arrive. I'm presently preoccupied with a list of books to read (Cofty should be a teacher, he gives excellent homework assignments), but once I'm done, it's next. -

What Heaven said. If you believe in god then you shoul aslso believe in magic, fairies, leprechauns and every other superstiton invented by man.
And Darwin's Origin of Species is the foundation for what today has become scientific fact.

What woke you up?
by Israel Ricky Gonzales inin march of 2014, i was a very active jw, a ministerial servant, gave a public talk, was an attendant for the memorial, and one of 4 cleaning captains for an international convention of 40,000+ attendees.
so what woke me up?
an innocent comment from a co-worker about the candice conti court case rang a bell that could not be unrung.

Please, share your abuse story.
by Aprostate Exam ingreetings to all, i am new to this site and am enjoying the topics.
briefly, my family suffered my older/deceased brother's molestation when he was 13, in the congregation.
to this day, my mother still defends the elders that dealt with this situation.

Aprostate
welcome! My sister was raped and like your mom, mine still absolves the Borg of all wrong doing and instead blames my sister who was disfellowshipped for immorality, promiscuity and slander because she spoke up. Some JWs are outstanding examples of great parenting, aren't they? -

What were you favorite book in the organization? I know what you're thinking...LOL!
by BashfulAshG inwhat were *your favorite *books in the organization?.
out of all of those books, i liked "mankind's search for god.
" however, it appears to me that this book is incredibly obscure and no one recalls studying it during the old book study format.

Paradise on Earth book when I was a kid. Boring I know, but I did like the idea of petting wild animals. -

Buddhism Anyone?
by LaurenM inso, i have recently been delving in buddhism and i must say it all makes sense!
like, the philosophies and ideas are what i've always believed but could never put a name to.
for example, they don't believe in god, they teach acceptance of all faiths, that peace can be achieved - not by changing other people - but by changing yourself, that everyone has goodness in themselves, that happiness can be gained internally (not externally as a gift from god), and that life is temporary so we should enjoy it!

At least they're ahead of the Borg. They are now allowing ladies to become lamas. The philosophy for living your life has its benefits as many religious beliefs/ideologies do. But as Cofty said, it's still nonsense as far as beliefe goes.
I don't see why you cannot live by your own common sense virtues without the need of someone else's doctrine or philosophy.
