Is this a site controlled by atheists?
by The Rebel inunder the exterior of being an ex- witness site, is this site simply converting atheism?.
i pose the question, because many come here in distress and insecurity with the realization that the w.t is wrong but still retain a belief in god.
my personal opinion is the threads on god are not challenged by an atheists personal animosity to believers, they are challenged and become confrontational because the atheist wants an elaboration and factual proof to a believers faith.. is this unreasonable?

I don't really see many atheists pushing atheism. What I do see a lot of is people challenging faith with facts who happen to be atheists. I don't see atheism being offered as an alternative to theism here, rather I see evidence being offered as an alternative to faith. Why on earth would anyone not be open to learning anything, whether it be evolution or something about a religion? -

Do you still believe in God?
by FormerlySandL ini never thought i would admit it, but i don't.
i might superstitiously have some kind of doubt but digging a bit deeper in my heart i really don't believe in god.
as a human i could never just sit and watch people be tortured, live years of abuse, suffer from illness and disabilities and all the other awful things people have to endure day after day without doing something about it.

It astounds me how logic completely eludes hardcore theists.
Consider the odds of our winning on behalf of God, this bet he made with Satan (I call it the Satan Challenge):
1)God can see the future and read the heart. So when he sees what Satan will do before he even shows signs of rebelling against God, he doesn't exterminate him before the trouble starts. This could have saved everything as well as saved face for God in the eyes of the Angels.
1)The first evil being is Satan. From angels to humans, God is incapable of creating beings who will not perpetrate evil - does God purposely include design flaws or is he simply incapable? If he purposely included a design flaw then he had every intention of creating a cruel game from the start, knowing its inevitable outcome (refer to bullet point one). If he is incapable, then he is not all powerful and perfect but is as capable of mistakes as we are. he himself proceeds to put faith in the wrong people throughout the OT despite already knowing what the outcome will be. MORE odds stacked against humans winning the Satan Challenge.
3) He agrees to a game based on the most unfair rules possible: powerless humans vs. a supernatural being with powers no human can compete against (even the most faithful fall victim to his powers). It's like a boxing match between Steven Hawking and Superman. MORE odds stacked against humans winning the Satan Challenge.
4)God supposedly cannot intervene, but throughout the Old Testament he does. Supposedly in modern times he still intervenes when he cures some obscure individuals cancer (sometimes the cancer of an individual guilty of heinous behavior or crimes) but chooses not to intervene on the part of an infant who hasn't and is incapable of committing sin, let alone evil. Confusing, no? MORE odds stacked against humans winning the Satan Challenge.
5) He sends his son who performs miracles in a day and age where these miracles cannot be broadcast for the planet to witness, rather only a handful of people witness them. His miracles are small and obscure when one considers the massive miracles he could have performed which the entire ancient world could have seen. He chooses to reveal his power instead to perhaps a only few hundred Jews. He then allows himself to be killed with the intention of showing the world he is God's son by ascending to heaven but hardly anyone witnesses this so to most, this so-called son of God was able to be murdered by mere mortals. MORE odds stacked against humans winning the Satan Challenge.
6)Jesus doesn't state much if anything clearly. Instead he talks in parables and riddles as to make things even more confusing yet this very man used very clear miracles. How much more discombobulated could a message be? Would you pass a school test had your lessons been obscure at best? MORE odds stacked against humans winning the Satan Challenge.
7) He decides as a warning of what is to come to recruit a human to write a book about trumpets and seals, locust winged horses and dragons and put it in the hands of other humans to decipher. MORE odds stacked against humans winning the Satan Challenge.
8) He allows for ancient bones, geological features and cosmic discoveries that show the world is older than 6000 years, bringing many to doubt his already confused teachings and message. MORE odds stacked against humans winning the Satan Challenge.
Either He's a lousy gambler or He gets more pleasure from watching others suffer from his losses than winning.
If my post seems confusing, then it has a lot in common with the one thing which is supposedly our only hope of salvation- the bible.

I'm all for social support systems but when unemployed, hungry people keep breeding i can only shake my head. The issue is, they may have the sense and reasoning of rats but should their innocent kids be punished with hunger because of irresponsible parents? I think not. Every society has its share of social leaches but you don't punish a dog because it's covered in ticks. -

I honestly think Trump is leading all his followers on - a complete con job. The guy has a solid history of being liberal and has been friends with the Clinton's for over two decades. I hate conspiracy theories but I have this itch in the back of my mind that his whole game plan from the start was to hijack the Republican Party and derail it. What exactly his motivation would be I cannot say, but nothing adds up under close scrutiny. The fact that he is so dismissive of even attempting to clarify his policies but conducts his entire sordid campaign as if it were a reality show tells me he never really intended to invest much thought or solid principals into his plans. I don't believe for a moment he intends to follow through with most of his promises but instead create a quasi Democratic Party and this is the reason the establishment Republican party is hell-bent on stopping him. They see his lack of conservative history and don't trust him. Either way I've always hated Trump ever since I read about his private jet having a gold toilet back in the 90's. But if he means hijacking the Republican Party ship and sinking it, I'm all for it.
Either this country has to get at least a third party or the RP has to be rebuilt from the ground up. I'm sick of their religious rhetoric being injected into their politics and their constant denial of climate change. As it stands now it's a party that does nothing more than propagate ignorance and while they demand religious freedom, demand that others don't have freedoms which contradict their religious ideologies.
Ideally I would like to see a party which takes the common sense and humanitarian parts of each party and combines them.

As a kid (10-12 yes old if I recall correctly ) I prayed to Jehoover several times in an ernest, sincere attempt to "feel" his love, presence or his will. Not once did I feel a thing. My mother would make excuses as to why I was not getting any feed back which only served to reinforce my doubts about theism. -
