"all of them witches" was the name of the book that mia farrow read in in the film "rosemary's baby" which eventually lead her to believe that ruth grodon, ralph bellamy, and several other actors from the 40's and 50's rooming in her apartment were satan-worshippin' wiitches.
in this day in age i think people who are witches in real life have to live with various stereotypes permeated from movies, t.v.
shows, and whatnot.
My daughter is a witch, pagan. She is not Wiccan, although she explored that first. There is a difference. Like someone said, male witches are not warlocks. The journey is individual, and thus the coven, church, or group, supports each member on their journey of self-awareness. A lot of exJWs seem to gravitate towards being pagan, or becoming wiccan. My youngest daughter has been going to the rituals recently and my son, my eldest child is also pagan, and has been for a long time. Their church has rituals each month. They also have other celebrations they attend. I have not attended a ritual yet. I have no real interest in replacing JWdom with anything else. I will probably go eventually, just to check it out, but I have doubts that it will be anything permanent. i have no inner need for any sort of organized belief system at this time.
People feel a need to belong, and some feel the need for belonging to a spiritual group. Paganism is just another way to explore your spirituality. Don't be afraid of it, it is just another diversity that the world has to offer. Read up on it, it is very interesting.
Here's my daughter's site: < http://www.geocities.com/tinkastar (Her kid's site which has stuff spelled out in simplicity so that children can understand it, but is good for adults too.) or
< http://www.geocities.com/tinkarae which is her personal site with pagan links on it. Hope this helps.

united states-.
satan the devil, the wicked one, launched an extraordinary offensive tonight against jehovah himself.
after taking control of the souls of nbc dateline reporters, the devil made a vicious and unprecedented attack against gods own organization.
Isn't it funny, "a wave of persecution?" The WTBTS has their followers well trained huh? It is in them to respond without thinking to anything negative about the Society. The next week or so, while this stuff is fresh, it will be interesting to hear the comments of the JWs and how they respond. Most will defend the society somehow, totally ignoring what was brought out. If they don't then they have to think for themselves and we all know where that leads. Most JWs aren't ready for that!
It is so sad, it makes you wonder what it takes to make people see the facts and the real "truth." I know for me it took years of garbage piling up to the sky. For others it takes very little. I guess it depends on what you have to loose and what that means to each one, whether it is worth it or not. I wish I had seen the "light" much sooner.

this is a very long story that i will try to condense.
it will still probably be too long.
life is good for us now that we know the real truth.
Thank you for sharing your story. It only confirms what is being said over and over again. If nothing else, all these things will hlep other victims who have not, and of some, who for their own reasons will not, come forward with their own story knowing now that they are not alone.
As far as the "in good standing while in prison and still preaching in prison." I know a convicted child molester from the KH who while in jail was still in "good standing." there are legal technicalities why the local Elders can't DF while these ones are in prison, but when released they can be. The one I know of was DF directly after he was released. So there is hope, especially after Dateline has now aired his dirty laundry that Dan Fitzwater will be DFed after he gets out like the "brother" I knew. The Elders have to keep the "congregation clean" and they can't have anyone bring "reproach upon Jehovah's Organization" you know. It is all such a joke, isn't it?
I wish you well, and am sorry that you have gone through hell with all this too. But now you know that you are hardly alone, and can take some comfort in the fact that due to the courage of Silent Lambs and others, that some of this shit will be dealt with and that through all these ones courage and your own, that not all of the victims will be silenced no longer.

well, i am bucking the general consensus here that everything went well on dateline.
i thought it was fine as far as it went but looking at it through the local jw eyes it will not get what you all and i hoped for.
the show didn't put proof on all the cases we all know about.
Spidermonkey,
welcome to the site. I am sorry for your pain. Keep looking and exploring. So many things become clear in time. I have been away for about 7 years no, just walked. The longer I am away and the more open my mind becomes the more clearer things get. that will happen to you too. It is so sad that all this has been going on. But at least now it is being exposed. In time more will happen. But don't expect the Society to fall anytime soon. They are a business and a good one. they will do what ever it takes to stay afloat, and most JWs won't even blink an eye. It is like that in all big business. Look at the huge scandal in the Cathloic Church about child molestation. What real good did and is it doing? Not a lot when you take into account the all in all. It will be the same for the Society in the long hall. They will change a few rules to survive and go right on without a blink of an eye. The people hurt will have their hurt and the Society won't care any more than they do now. It will just be that more people will be aware, nothing more. But that may be enough.

Naeblis,
No, I never said I expected big changes suddenly, I am no fool. But I have been in the Organization over 40 years and even when shit was discovered, time and time and time again, and I saw lots and lots of crap, nothing happened because the JWs are brainwashed into accepting cover-ups in the name of Jehovah. That is my point.
Your point of policy change is my point. It won't happen if the JWs think nothing has been done wrong, so thus no need for change. don't need to fix something if you don't think it is broken. "The "world" is getting worse ya know, not the Society." "Signs of the times of the end, coming SOON." "Wait on Jehovh."
Some will see the facts, some will on that knowledge, but very few. More will see and not act. The Society will do the general cover up dance, and the few that will leave on this account of what Dateline showed, will be dismissed by all as more wheat being sifted and the congregations being cleaned out just like in the mid 70's and mid 80's. I know how the society works. I have butted heads too many times with too many elders not to know. That is why I am no longer "in."

Kay,
No, I wasn't expecting Rome to be built in a day, just a bit more bricks put up tonight, that is all. We waited so long for this, and Dateline had so much more info and they had a whole hour, I was disappointed in the use of time. Don't get me wrong. What they did was great, I was just expecting so much more, due to all the hype over the past two years leading up to only a half-hour part, when I know that there is so much more they could have said that would really have gotten people to think clearer and deeper.

Dutchie,
Yes, powerful from your viewpoint and mine because we know and believe what was said. It will open some eyes. It will make some people question shortterm, it will cause some to cry. It was all true. But as most JWs will think, as they are taught to do so, that the show was the work of the world. The ones speaking for the Society basically denied everything that was connected with wrong doing on the part of the Society. They blantantly lied when they said they don't tell their memebers not to go to the police, but the faithful JW will believe what the Societies reps say and will ignore the rest. EVen if they find pity for the ones hurt they will think these cases are isolated, in congregations where Jehovah's blessing has been fulled because of wrongdoing covered up and they will dismiss the rest. It is too difficult to do otherwise for most because it means questioning the Society and questioning the Society leads to trouble and disfellowshipping and most JWs don't want to go that route.

Kay,
Yes, many will cry at what was shown and many will think a bit more about things, and many will talk about these things. But I wonder how many will take action on the things heard. I can only hope that it will give more people courage to come forth, because the few that have come forward and the few on Silent Lambs site are a small fraction of the injustices involving molestation in the Society. There are many injustices hidden about many other things too, covered up and buried, or so the Society hopes.
Remember, it is hard for a person to take what they truly believe in and have a paradigm shift. It is painful to do so. So many will do like I said, and then "forget" over time, few will change their lives over what they have heard tonight.

Cyg,
What I meant by not showing all the cases, was not details, but more enphasis that there were so many more. They did just a light touch on that point and then there was a qualifier that they were not confirmed. In a JW mind that was a disqualifier. I know that many will be affected in or out of the Organization by this show and in a good way. It will at least make some JWs think and some "worldly" people question entrance into the WTBTS. I was just a bit disappointed more wasn't covered and that they didn't fill the hour. They certainly had the information to do so.
