I'm so sorry.
Your brother is a $%^& and he is teaching his remaing jw daughters to be horrible people. How sad.
I'm really sorry.
so my niece was disfellowshipped about 18 months ago for having a worldly boyfriend who was obviously staying over at her place on a regular basis.
they now have a house together an are going strong.
her boyfriend is a nice guy.
I'm so sorry.

my mother lives a plane trip away from me, so does not get to spend very much time with zac.
however, she is in sydney for 3 weeks and has been babysitting.
i knew that she would be talking about jehovah, but was very annoyed yesterday when zac said my mother was speaking all day about jehovah, such as how he made the stars.. in the past, i was not overly concerned if zac learnt about jehovah's witnesses, as i thought it would help with critical thinking skills to understand different points of view.
I agree with much of what has already been said about letting grandma know the rules and so on.
I would also put out there that if a 4 year old gets the idea that dad is angry (or even just a little upset) with grandma because of something the 4 year old said that grandma said about Jehovah, the 4 year old may not tell dad anything else that grandma says about Jehovah. Kids are like that...protective, not wanting to get people in trouble...they even protect people who abuse them, so I would think it would be very natural for a 4 year old to try to protect grandma. Just something to keep in mind. (and if worst comes to absolute worst and you have to cut grandma off, there is a good chance the child will think its his fault if things aren't handled very carefully)
Also, I like the idea of having the child ask questions of grandma, but 4 is a little young for encouraging that, imo. I think that would be better left for when he is in grade school. And it will probably come naturally to him by then since he will be raised to ask questions and be a critical thinker...
I don't think we really have much to worry about. Children taught to ask questions and think logically will not become indoctrinated unless they are not exposed to anything else but the brainwashing.
Yes, that.
Don't panic.
as some of you know, i started college 5 years ago for the first time at age 27. i had been out of the "truth" for 9 years at that time, but had just broken free of the mentality.
well, on saturday i walked across the stage with the 130th graduating class at rocky mountain college!.
after 5 years of working several jobs, taking care of two little boys as a single mom, and trying to get the most out of my college experience, i earned my master of accountancy, bachelor of science in business management, and minors in writing and organizational leadership.
Congrats!!
hello all, i've just discovered this site and i cant begin to describe how happy i am to have come across it.
i stumbled across this site purely by accident...seriously i was looking at arkham city walkthoughs and a few jumps later i end up here.
i though it was a legit society page at first and thought 'what the hell, this will be good for a laugh', but after reading a few posts well...i couldnt stop reading.
Wow, we have pretty similar stories.
Nice to meet ya!
i subbed this great apostate channel i think like a year ago and now i can't find her videos.
(i'm loliloli83 on youtube by the way).
she's a brown skinned black woman, and she is an ex-atheist (now a born again christian).
I think this is her.... but no spandex halter...maybe I have the wrong healthy ex-jw!
hi everyone, i would like to introduce myself and tell my story.
from the standpoint of being one of jehovahs witnesses, my whole family is deeply involved as i was the 5th generation of witness and any children that my brothers or sister have will be the sixth generation.
as some of my brothers and sisters are grandparents, i guess that makes their grandchildren a potential 7th generation.

.
what attracts new ones into the jw fold these days, the message, the friends, someone to listen to their problems, a personal relationship with god?
what?.
I know my parents were scared to death about world events when they converted to the Jehovah's Witnesses....-Vietnam, people growing long hair (noooooooo!), society changing too rapidly, etc...- it was all too much for them. They wanted to be safe from the crazy stuff they saw around them...
I thought that maybe the times now were similar to those times, so there would be an increase in JWs. But no. Their message changed, and the new message is just not quite as motivational as the old message...
OLD MESSAGE: "You are right to be scared that it seems like the world is ending with all this crazy stuff going on...THE WORLD IS ENDING.....and it's ending in 1975! That's in like 2 years!!!!! And it could come even sooner!!!!!! Remember, 'no one knows the day or the hour!' Terrifying, right?? Don't worry! The Jehovah's Witnesses have a magic shield that will protect you and your family through the terrible distruction that you just KNOW is going to happen...any second now!!! Thank goodness we got to you and told you this before it was too late!"
NEW MESSAGE: We know the bible better than anybody and if you want to be good and if you want God to like you, you must join us. Also, if God likes you, you will get a super-duper prize: living in paradise forever with tigers and stuff! Seriously, you have to do this, or else you just are not really a good person.
^^the new message just isn't cutting it. It's not frightening enough.
for your information, not all cults are destructive as may be generally assumed.
as a therapist, i will list the folowing points as reasons why some cults may be healthy, especially the jw organisation.. 1) their stand on material prosperity shields their members from unnecessary worries of life.
their constant emphasis on simple life prevents you from entering into debt-imposed problems safeguarding you from the possibilities of sleepless night, financial stress and the rest .. 2) their behavioural control mechanism helps to constantly keep your lives in checks and balance by injecting sanity into your conscious being.. 3) reporting you deviant thoughts, feelings, and actions to leaders helps to coordinate your life and brings it in conformity to impeccable manners(the desire of every sane human mammal).. 4) their extensive use of cult generated information and propaganda constantly triggers your consciousness for the need to do things right (a positive reinforcement).. 5) their ethical use of confession makes you see that the universe cares for you and you are not alone in the grand scheme of things.. 6) their loaded languages offers you feelings of belonging, which we all aspire in a secluded and socially quarantined world.. .
As a therapist...
Laughing my ass off now!!
on 4/6, the poster orphan annie posted about her experiences with jw's and her ill husband.
unfortunately, her husband died monday, and she is feeling very sad.
i just wanted to make others aware of it, so that we can encourage her and give her some much needed support during this rough time.. her original thread is here.
annie, Please share more when and if you are up to it.

not a joke.
anybody remember when they were going to economically overtake the us?
When it gets really bad, they will finally HAVE to allow more immigration. I don't know why they don't just do it now...the cultural feeling against immigration must be very, very strong...
