i got into a rather heated discussion this morning with my unbaptised but raised jehovah's witness wife.
we discussed so many things: feb 1 watchtower article on 607 and 1914, the un, beth sarim, blood, god's mouthpiece here on earth, etc.
this was yet another attempt on my part to try to plant a seed of doubt.

in a minimus moment, i find myself interested in knowing which buzz-words and phrases in jw publications stand out the most to you?
when i read wt literature, i constantly find myself astounded by how transparently cultish the language is.
in an earlier, unrelated thread, i said the following: .
I remembered my favorite:
?Bas associations spoil useful habits.?

I must stay up until I hear the rest of this story!
I think it is gonna end good! **crossing fingers**

Well this topic got me thinking and I realized I couldn?t come up with JW-speak anymore!! So I got out an old 1975 Watchtower bound volume. What a blast from the past! Here is some of the language that really gave me the worst flashbacks in the 15 minutes I could force myself to read it?..
?deeply involved?
example:
?Such speculation (about bible prophecy) can lead to one?s becoming deeply involved with matters that actually have little or nothing to do with the building up of faith.??WT july 1, 1975
?that is?
example:
?So God, as he foretold by his prophet Haggai, has ?brought peace in this place,? that is, in the earthly courtyards of his great spiritual temple, where the ?great crowd? the ?desirable things of all the nations,? have gathered.? ----WT July 1, 1975
?everlasting life on earth?
example:
(?..too many quotes to list here?.)
?displayed a similar willingness?
example:
?But have not most churches always displayed a similar willingness to befriend political nations in order to preserve themselves? But how does God view those who befriend the world at the sacrifice of Christian principles??----- WT July 1,1975
?under the direction of the Watch Tower Society?
example:
?In 1924, I quit my job at the pharmacy and entered the full-time service, preaching God?s Word under the direction of the Watch Tower Society. How happy I was!?----- WT July 15, 1975)
?contaminating influence?
(?Some of these persons may be upright, respectable people according to the world?s standards. But close association with them is bad, for the reason that all persons who are not devoted Christians engage in things not pleasing to God and can be a contaminating influence.?------ WT July 15, 1975
I don't know whether to LMAO, , , or !!!

At this point in my life, I am quite angry about the situation. And while my posts probably (certainly?) do reflect anger and frustration, I'm not being condescending in my responses back to you...(
Hey, it is absolutely cool?OK? I know you are upset, and understandably so, and while my pride was a teeny tiny injured by your response, I quickly recovered! I am sorry you could detect a bit of my feelings in my response, as I thought I had not let them into the post.
I will be thinking of you on Saturday! I really hope you can get a doubt in there!
Good luck,

Globe,
Well, those were just my thoughts and ideas and maybe how I might try to handle it. If they are not helpful, you should just disregard them without a second thought. Take what you like and leave the rest, as they say!
She was more pissed off than upset and said she would have nothing to do with the JWs after that.
Your last statement above misses the point. I feel deceived that she said this, yet went back
I am sorry I missed your point about that. I see where it would be upsetting that she would say that she was upset with the JWs, would have nothing to do with them, and then later she would change her mind. You must feel betrayed. I still think my point is valid however: this story shows that your wife is not 'cut out' for the JW life, really.
I wrote the post before I read some of your later posts. From those, it seems like you have already made up your mind and your relationship is quite broken from living in a painful situation for a long time. Is your marriage already over? If so, then why even bother with the elder meeting?
And if it is not already over and you still want to be married, I really hope you guys can find a way to work it out.
Regards,

i've been out for about 10 years and, to be honest, i have begun to worry less and less about what that org.
but in eman's recent post, "you have one shot", sirona mentioned about all the lies that the wtbts have told.
i have read c of c, but my memory is fading on what some of the more blatant lies that i recall from that book and other articles.. just in case i have an encounter with a jw who may actually be considering leaving but wants more support/reasons to leave, can people help me by refreshing my memeory on the biggest lies that they have told, that would catch their attention the quickest?
That they won't shun you if you just leave.
And that everyone who leaves the JWs a) doesn't love God, b) left because they want to smoke, drink and have sex c) was in some way tricked away by sly demons or d) left because they are evil apostates who want to destroy God's Org!! (There are no other reasons for leaving.)

Yup, she says she would not allow me a transfusion if I needed one! How can I live with that?!! Those aren't my wishes.
Wow. That is not her choice. Wow. I don't know what to say. From the last couple of your posts you sound like you have already made up your mind...I am sorry you have to go through all this crap.
