can someone please explain what the whole 144,000 thing is about?
has god only saved a certain group of people?

I generaly switched off when they stopped talking about Jesus and started talking about prophecy and numerology.
Im sure many of my old JW peers can explain it perfectly. :)
This is what i recall:
Jesus will take 144000 people from the earth and they will rule in heaven. There are only about 9000 left. Thats about all i know.
if its right what the watchtower say and the new testament is only for the 144,000, then where the hell does everyone else fit in then?.

i mean that sword is at waist level, the shaft is long (:-d) and there is a little round dealy on the end.
the male in the submissive position has got his mouth open, the dominant male is looking like "oh yeah, get ready.

Sapphy... i really appreciate your approach to answering my question. You explained it exactly how they do! :) (I still dont understand anything, and thats not your fault) :) Some interesting points though. Why so many needed?
Ndrew... im disfelowshipped and i was thinking before... what was it all about anyway? I never understood their fascination with this. Same goes for 1914??? Same goes for them feeling that only they are gonna be saved when the new testament is LADEN with scriptures which say that anyone who puts faith in Jesus will be saved. Just dont get it whatsoever!

Can someone please explain what the whole 144,000 thing is about? Has God only saved a certain group of people? What about the rest? Does he use these few to communicate to the rest?
I have never undertsood this teaching and id just like to know what you think its all about.
