Myself,
When I was a youngin'...my mom was always making lentil soup. It was bad for me at school and especially at all day assemblies.
I won't get into details...;)Off the subject...I used to get out of sitting thru the talks by volunteering to help in the dishroom. My mom thought that was great until she realized that the people "volunteering" were supposed to come back for another weekend assembly....Not me he he

Need help with Isa 66:6...need decent argument...
by TheApostleAK inhas anybody got a decent argument that defeats the wt argument that isa 66:6 in the septuagint contains the greek word naos in this scripture.. basically this is one of the arguments the wt uses to show the greek word naos can mean more than the sanctuary.. more info see the great crowd article of 1981.. help!.

Just because something is easier to read doesnt make it an authority over an original document.

WT 4-01-02 article
by DB inin the april 1, 2002 issue of the watchtower, an article appears entitled "keep on serving jehovah with a steadfast heart".
paragraph 14 of this article states: "if jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to read the bible would never be given to jehovah's witnesses and those to whom they preach.".
i am withholding comment on this statement, because i'd like to hear from any who would like to post a response.

So... suddenly JW's are allowed to examine their theology using scripture?
Wow, what a landmark decision this is!
There may be reform yet.
Won't hold my breathLizard

I am unlike other men
by joelbear ini'm not talking about the homo thing here.. i am very different.
i learn differently.
i am odd, very eccentric sense of humor.. i have decided that instead of trying to get one doctorate degree that i am going to try and get several bachelors degrees in different areas of interest.. i like too many things to concentrate on one subject.. i have worked at the same type of job for the last 20 years and have never been happy.

I don't understand what good using the Septuagint is when we have access to the original Hebrew scriptures. Are we to take more stock in a copy of something than what it is translated from?
I digress, I took Amazing's advice and looked up Isaiah 66:6's "Temple" in my Strongs Concordance and found the Hebrew word to be heykal (pr. hay-kal). The definition is as follows:
-a large public building, such as a palace or temple. -

Think of the possibilities....
by Intuit39 inwhat would happen if, one by one, each jehovah's witness started standing up for him/herself and what s/he personally stands for?.
a couple of examples: .
a friend of mine, an elder in a rural northern kentucky congregation, stepped down from his position a couple of years ago, and when confronted by the elders, he basically told them in no uncertain terms to 'leave him and his family alone.

Intuit,
I would love to meet your mom :)
I've never met someone who actually stood up to the elders. I never stood up to them...I just left.
God bless your mom,
