Methodist Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses
Laodicean Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses

the more meetings you go to the more drivel you hear.
elder's meetings were terrible because all you ever did was gossip about how everyone wasn't doing this or that.
meetings for field service sucked.....enough said on that.
The most boring meeting to me was the one where the elder talked about some boring "steward class" or something to that effect. I remember it being so boring that I couldnt even comfortably sleep.

this was posted in my guestbook and i thought i would share it.
loris was threatened by two elders who were sent by wt, with df for her letter to newsweek if she said anything more publicly about the child abuse issue.
i believe this mother of eight has more courage in her little finger than those elders do in their whole body.
Thanks for the post Bill.
I'm sure victims will find alot of strength in that poem.

after reading so many comments about our collective personalities, i wonder how we were percieved by the congregation in general.
some of us on the board seem to be shy, others appear to be stronger type personalities.some stories that i have read, suggest that when you left the organization, either nobody was surprised or everyone was shocked.
do you think that you are basically the same type of person , now, as you were when you were attending meetings?
I have definetly changed...it took a long time but I was finally able to get "dubdom" out of my head.
When I left the organization...it was simply because I couldnt live the life of being a Jehovah's Witness anymore. I wasn't allowed to be good at anything...couldn't fit in...people always watching me. Finally, I figured that I can stay away and feel that way...why go to the meetings? And who are they to boss me around? *pure rebellion
The only problem is that I still firmly believed in their teachings...so basically...I felt doomed.
It wasnt until some years later...(when I dared to go to a bible study that a friend held)...that I realized JW teachings were all wrong. It took a while but gradually, with the help of my friends and a pastor (thanx Steve), I was able to unlearn all of what I had been taught in my 12 years as a "dub".
Change is good ;)

at this point in my life i feel very confident that leaving the jws was the best thing for me.
however, 25 years of brainwashing goes a long way.
(for arguments sake) if religion collapsed today, would you feel you made a mistake in leaving the wbts?
I would love it if religion collapsed. Then we could start secretly meeting in each others homes. This would make studying the bible more fun and we wouldnt have to deal with church politics anymore.

just wondering, cause i think i just may.
so how much pressure can a person take before they go insane?
what is the human mid capable of?
MrMoe,
You've got 4 pages of people that love and care about you. I hope that gives you at least some strength for hanging on.
Give that little daughter of yours a big hug and tell her that mommy loves her.
Hold on to these things...
God Bless,
