one more thing CP, NEVER quote anything and say it came from this forum as it is "apostate".
all those quotes above you can get first hand at JW.ORG

i'm writing for some advice from former jws.
my family is christian, and my 15yo daughter is "dating" a jw boy.
(the quotes are because they aren't old enough to actually go out on dates... they consider themselves bf/gf and have hung out and gone places with each other, but always with parents, family, etc.

Dear concerned parent, you are have come to a forum populated by ex-witnesses and forum posts by
the nature of the case are short. There are no JWs in my family other then my daughter, now her
young family. Your story is identical to mine of twenty years ago so listen to the warnings you have
received. My JW son-in- law is a wonderful young man and excellent husband and father. I say this
because there are about 8 million JWs and they are just people with the full gamut of personalities and
virtues and lack thereof. The "Governing Body' (yes capital letters) is the issue and they are antichrist
not that boy who is a guest in your house. You are a Christian and so am I (not much of one but that
another story) and I wish I had known then what I know now. Here is why the GB is antichrist in Greek
and English. Anti in English means opposed or against but here is ἀντὶ in the New Testament.
ὀφθαλμὸν ἀντὶ ὀφθαλμοῦ καὶ ὀδόντα ἀντὶ ὀδόντος. (Mat 5:38)
eye for eye and tooth for tooth
ἀντὶ τοῦ λέγειν ὑμᾶς (Jam 4:15)
Instead you ought to say
ἀντὶ in the NT often means substitute and that is what the GB claims for themselves, alternative
mediators between God and humanity. Jesus is their mediator and they are the mediator for the rest
of us. Here are some references from their publications.
*** Watchtower 1979 4/1 page. 31 Questions From Readers ***
” So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the “mediator” only for anointed Christians.
*** Watchtower 1991 2/15 page. 18 par. 11 “You Were Bought With a Price” ***
Christ does not act as Mediator of the new covenant toward them, yet they benefit from this covenant through the work of God’s Kingdom.
Worldwide Security Under the “Prince of Peace” (one of their little books)
*** ws chap. 1 pp. 10-11 par. 16 The Desire for Peace and Security Worldwide ***
Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members.
So at this point concerned parent you probably know more about JW doctrine than the boy friend and I am
absolutely serious. He may object and say "I believe in Jesus too" and be sincere.
Here is how JWs get Jesus whether they know it or not.
*** Watchtower 1983 8/15 page. 23 par. 14 United Fruit Bearers ***
Just as the anointed “branches” of the “true vine” must remain in union with Christ, the “other sheep” must remain in close union with “the faithful and discreet slave,”
Of course I am assuming the boy friend is one of the "other sheep". Ask him
Take it from someone who has been there CP do not let this slide. Find out about the "slave".
Jerryh
i love gospel music.
i don't feel like i need to believe in "jebus" to appreciate the music.
i can't go into a gospel church because i might just get religion again - that or i'll be grabbing the mic on be on the stage waving my hands and praising the lord.. i particularly like dylan's gospel period.
my husband is dfed but he is a prime example of someone who was a puppet for the watchtower.
i was able to wake him a little with the sex abuse scandal.
he was an elder and is very familiar with those rules.
He gets very emotional since he still wants to believe that there is a religion out there
who is the one true religion
Dear Whynot, I have not been a JW but have people I love in the Org. so I visit this forum
some. Your husband and I have a couple of things in common. Guilt and wanting to believe
there is a remedy for guilt.
Now, my husband still believes the Bible is infallible. Me too.
In 1 John it says this
if we are walking in the light as he himself is in the light, we do have a sharing with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we make the statement: “We have no sin,” we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous so as to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we make the statement: “We have not sinned,” we are making him a liar, and his word is not in us. My little children, I am writing you these things that you may not commit a sin. And yet, if anyone does commit a sin, we have a helper with the Father, Jesus Christ, a righteous one.
In
Watchtower world complete forgiveness is what Jesus and his apostles used
to preach.
· What Now Distinguishes the Good News to Be Preached (1 occurrence)
·
o 1, 2. (a) What of very present importance has been added to the good news preached by Jesus and his apostles? (b) After the ouster of Satan the Devil, how did the heavens express this addition to the good news?
Ever since the end of the Gentile Times in 1914 something of very present importance has been added to the “good news of God” that Jesus Christ used to preach in the Middle East,
If you go to JW.ORG search on quote “token forgiveness” you will get this. Where in the
infallible Bible is there even one mention of token forgiveness? Is our guilt real?
His and mine. Do we need token forgiveness for real guilt?

Have him read Galatians 1:6-9 and choose between the old gospel and the new additions.
I rarely post here so I apologize for the formatting.
i have the 2015 watchtower library working fine and have started to enter some book marks.. i have the library program on a flash drive to pass around to some other folks so they can show .
witnesses at their door what they are supposed to believe.

Thanks MMM. I knew this but took a chance
The WT has programmed it to specifically use this space.
first of all, i want to say thanks to all of you guys who gave me advice on my first post.
it really helped and i will try to use all of it.
now, i been doing research on what is false about the jdubs.
Maybe they could elaborate on what is a "token" forgiveness?

Incognito,
Thanks for looking at this, it was a good idea. But
You have any control of the path, you just "add" a bookmark then technology take over.
I wish it would work though as showing them things in context is pretty effective
thanks again

I have the 2015 Watchtower Library working fine and have started to enter some book marks.
I have the library program on a flash drive to pass around to some other folks so they can show
witnesses at their door what they are supposed to believe. Getting the book marks transferred is
where I need help. The other person could make them one at a time no problem but it will be better
if they can come off the flash drive together with the program. The screen shot below
shows where they reside on this computer but I cannot find this on the "other" computer
to make the transfer. The program probably creates this path but I cannot locate it on the
other machine. I hope this even makes sense. Any help is good.
so my mum asked me to watch the broadcast and to my astonishment i got through it without smashing my screen haha.. so i let her know what liars they are for saying they would never deliberately distort a quotation.. she is ok for me to give her some printouts of watchtower material where this has in fact happened, contry to what they say.. where should i start and what would be your best link, or way to approach this.
i think this is a good opportunity of waking her up, if she can see that the broadcast has lied to her, she won't be happy.. any advice is you can give is so appreciated.. thanks everyone..
now that i'm looking beyond what the wt teaches i'm struggling to find information on three topics.
the 144,000, the trinity and prayer.. if anyone has 5 minutes could they explain:.
1. what do other religions think the 144,000 are or is?
Hi Libby, I was never a Witness. I think I know what you mean by "other religions" I became a follower of Jesus
in the Methodist church, married my high school sweetheart and joined the Baptist church with her, so I am pretty qualified to be "other". I think of myself as a follower of Jesus, not much of one, but I am one.
1. What do other religions think the 144,000 are or is? Jews
(John 10:16) other sheep I have not of this fold SO (Matt 10:6) go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel(Matt 15:24) I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. SO
(Rom 1:16) I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first,
(Rom 2:9) Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first,
(Rom 2:10) glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first
NOW (John 4:21) the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
2. I can find lots of information as to scriptures that show how God and Jesus can be the same. But if Jesus is God, how did he send himself to earth ? And how did he pray to God when on earth ?
The trinity doctrine is not meant to be a definition of God. This statement is the gist of it.
"do not confuse the persons, do not divide the substance" The father and son are not the same person.
The limitation of human thought and vocabulary is, what exactly is a "person"? Probably better is just
use the adjective and say they are personal. As for the English word "substance" it usually refers to physical
substance and God is not physical so commenters often use "essence" or "nature". Jesus had human nature
and divine nature. One person with two natures. Go on youtube and see experiments with light to see that
this is possible. Light has two natures, particle and wave. Father and Son have the same nature.
Jesus forgave sin, controlled the wind, and received worship because it was his nature. We don't care that
Thomas called him God (see Acts 14:11 and Thomas was just a regular guy) what we care is Jesus let
him say those words without rebuke but with a blessing instead (John 20:29).
The Holy Spirit is a person? Again better to stay with the adjective, personal.
the holy spirit said: “Set aside for me Barʹna·bas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
3. If God and Jesus are the same do other religions still ask their prayer in Jesus's name or do they just say Amen ?
Whatever it is that you do in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, thanking God the Father through him.
