The eye and the brain are incredibly good at pattern-matching and at seeing and making connections between seemingly random data...even when the data actually IS RANDOM. Ergo, sometimes we see what we want to see.

Examples:

• Flying saucer photo from 1960s believed to THIS DAY by some to be proof was prooved to be a pie tin tossed in the air.

• A satellite photo of the martian surface showed a face, PROOF that the little green mars men were trying to communicate with us. When the same spot was later viewed from another angle the "face" was a completely unrecognizable pile of rocks.

• Crop circles, proved to be done by a farmer with a simple homemade device.

• Jesus' face in a tortilla, grilled cheese sandwich, et al.

On and on it goes. And I believe in a higher power personally but these silly photos do not prove anything at all.

@ Darkside Blues - "There's a home overseer at Bethel?"

Ohhhhh yes there was several of them when I was there and they wield a large amount of power over the Bethel boys. Housekeepers are instructed to snoop around and be on "the lookout" for anything odd or not 100% Bethel approved.

I knew a brother that had in a small bookshelf the Hobbit book and they told him he had to get rid of it, no questions asked. If you got a phone call to meet with the Home Overseer it was not going to be a pleasant experience.

i used to have a webpage saved and i have lost it.

they had a birthday party for their child and were called before a judicial committee.

Positive change never comes easy and it won't come if we all sit on our hands or type comments telling someone it's all a big waste of time. They said that to Ghandi and to MLK Jr also.

Good job Comatose keep us informed!

BTW the letter by Greybeard appears to have made a difference bc they completely stayed away from him after that. And a lady that I know personally used the psuedo-legal letter threat angle when one of the elders did something very hinkey to her and it would be a big fat embarassment for them to drag through the courts. WT does not want any more bad press and regularly "leaves alone" certain ones they don't want to give potential media attention to. This "JW" lady cannot be touched now and is still technically a Witness, has over 100 JW relatives that have been specifically told by their elders not to shun her even though she has made it known that she goes to another church now.
