  so did the 'da society' give these dub internet savvies permission to start a forum?

  because last i checked, the ole boys in their oversized brooklyn bunker didn't want their members on the internet unless it was to view their own official websites.

  i thought maybe it was an apostate forum until i read their long winded, typically condescending jdub style membership guidelines:.

  I am with you on this topic. The only thing I would say if I was arguing the opposite side is that simply revising a publication is not in and of itself nefarious. It is changing something WITHOUT showing or explaining that it was updated.

  Also, the Revelation book, NWT, and other study books have been updated and the Society has mentioned and even explained why. But the very nature of a monthly periodical is that what was printed and when it was printed implies that the original said it.

  George Orwell's famous book 1984 had whole teams of revisionists changing every history book and old newspaper when someone fell out of favor. That's what this smacks of IMO.

  Elder arrested for stalking

  i just read in the police blog that an elder that went to my former cong was arrested for stalking.

  i knew his family well and he is married to my cousin.

  this elder and his wife had recently shunned me at the grocery store.

  When I was an elder we had a couple situations where they wanted someone to do a "stakeout". It was part of an investigation, they had a report that a brother was sleeping around but couldn't prove it. He was of course ducking us, not answering his phone, etc.

  They wanted me to go down at 5:45 am and wait for him at his shop, that kind of junk. I said "sorry guys, there's NO WAY I'm gonna do a stakeout- I got better things to do, like take care of my family. I'm not a policeman."

  They looked at me like I was from Mars...and then two other elders volunteered...

  Best way to step down from being a servant

  hey i'm wondering if anyone can give some good advice on how to step down in the safest way.. i have served as an ms for a number of years, but can't do it anymore.

  i know too much i want to fade in the future when i get some family things straightened out.

  i can't move right now so that's out unfortunately.. what should i tell the body?

  @CoC - Thanks bro. BTW I LOVE The Mask I could watch that movie 50 more times before I die. Jim Carey is good. Cameron Diaz is *thump* *thump* ...better....

  @Hint of Lime - Grey Goose is g o o d... but expensive lol. I think I like my way better, but thanks!

  That's a creepy example of them actually changing what the original WT said when it hits the WT cd-rom. I pulled up the quote and saw the change but I'd love a scan of the actual 1989 magazine. I want to make a graphic with the two side by side.

  Also, I wonder if there are more of these "revisions"? This could be a whole separate thread IMO...

  The friend I have that spoke to him on the phone said something similar, but there was more of an emphasis on the "crazy" part. Definitely not a "truthful" sincere book... He even acknowledged that he didn't believe what he wrote in it and that he's moved on and is no longer a Gnostic. (if he ever was)

  Thought I'd give an update. Have decided to do a "slo-mo" step down via my FS reporting. For last month's time (March) I have given myself 8 hours, which for a servant is below the line but not by much. This month I have conveniently been ill, but plan to turn in maybe 6. This will definitely get their attention. Then it is only a matter of days or perhaps a couple weeks and I will be called to the backroom. I will be ready, and I will be apologetic and run-down.

  After a few months of this they will probably speak to me again... Lather rinse repeat... How soon they delete me is a dice roll, but I'll keep you posted.

  Like many of the thousands on this forum, I am still inside the org, but am looking to make an exit. It is very complicated for some of us to leave, as you may well know due to family, work, and other ties.

  Thank you for your understanding. My posts here are meant to benefit this community and add to the knowledge pool.

  Crisis of Conscience, Chapter 3

  the chapter is entitled governing body, with a subheading entitled three monarchs.. in this chapter, ray franz thoroughly debunks the notion advanced by fred franz that wt leadership is modeled after a so-called 1st century governing body.. however, something else that got my attention was the fact that rutherford was referred to as chief by overseas jw's.. on page 70, there is a picture of the london bethel family.. the caption reads: "see 'em grinning?

  the chief had just finished telling them something in the "colored language.".

  now, this really grabbed my attention!

  You make some good points actually. I appreciate what you are saying and it's your right to feel the way you do.

  But that's a lot of anger to carry man. It ain't healthy IMO... (Proverbs 17:22)
