JRK, there was an article I saw a while ago, forgot where, that states your stance is the largest growing group, in terms of belief.
They described this group of non-affiliation to any religion, belief as the "Nones".
I am agnostic.
after having been raised in the jehovah's witnesses for 44 years ( getting out 6 years ago ) i have now come to peace with my view of what i personally feel about the existence of god , or no god, or whatever is flying around up there in outer space.
i am basically agnostic for sure / perhaps leaning atheist and i've come to that decision based on the years and years of unfulfilled false promises of being in a mind control cult ( jehovah's witnesses ) claiming to represent an alleged " god " or " jehovah " saying there would be a paradise, and armageddon to destroy 99% of the earths population.
also- i enjoy helping others without thought of being rewarded for it.

was away from my normal computer and so my two posts to start the first thread didn't show.. however, thanks to all who picked up the topic and commented shadesofgrey, sizemik, lars, designs, otwo, jwfacts.
since i never commented on my own thread, i thought i should and thank everyone.. adam's claimed date of creation of c. 4000 bc was mentioned, however, the bible would have everyone coming from noah at c. 2650 bc.
american civilizations are said to date prior to the usual biblical date of the flood.
AnnOMaly, ultimately the question is, is the Bible the Word of God?
I'm struggling with this myself. While I can't see stories such as Babel, the Flood, or the multiple genocides happening, I still think about texts like Isaiah 40:22 and Job 26:7 and of prophecies like the fall of Jerusalem in 587, which you argue so well, and it's prediction of Cirus coming to rule.
I also see things like prayer as a placebo. I don't think God answers prayers, if he exists.
If you want to talk more in depth, feel free to pm me. I ponder on topics like this a lot.
Breakfast, another question would be, why would they necessarily find only women attractive? Angels are spirits, but they are males too?
Also, couldn't angels have found animals attractive? I know, bizzare and disgusting, but one has to push the boundaries on these discussions sometimes to get a point across.

What of the lineage of Jesus all the way to Adam?
It's a pickle, it surely is. I haven't sorted it all out in my head yet to be able to pontificate like I do on other subjects-AnnOMally
To me it's simple. Is man really older than Adam? Gobekli tepe. Unless archaeologists are wrong in their dating methods.
After that, doesn't it all kinda fall apart?
Elderelite, not only that, but God wiped out animals in a fit of rage, and they were merely collateral damage. The poor animals had nothing to do with it!
Truthseeker, what you mentioned about Jesus referencing Noah is telling. If Noah didn't happen, Jesus hasn't much to say. Why do you believe in the Bible?

I also saw a youtube video a while back that has similar statistics put together rather nicely, so as to show the impossibility of it.
check this paragraph from the article about how jah spared noah, the israelites at the red sea, etc.... scary!.
pg 26 para 16. as events unfold during the great.

i was just sitting here performing a little gedanken (thinking experiment) in my widdle head.. .
imagine dogs could talk.. .
in one of our conversations our dog tells us that their hearing is so acute they can hear sounds we don't even know are there.. we acknowledge that this is true.
Terry, on top of that you should add a sense of urgency, such as the cats will soon send signals into humans' brains to being WWIII. That parallels quite well with WT and apocalyptic groups.

AnnOMaly, does the Bible really allow for a middle way? What of the lineage of Jesus all the way to Adam?
we have brains and can think.. when we talk about god we leave behind material, physical sensible "things".
it is the voice of intellect not brain.
the proof is in the pudding.. the voice of god would not be mans voice.. intellect is our vehicle and it is not the atoms of a meat brain, nor vegetables nor poetry.
Terry, something I think has been avoided. Are we working on the premise that God even exists?
And what would you define "take us to God?" You mean experience what God is?
