Do You Ever Doubt Your Efforts Are Futile?
by Elephant in...hello folks.... ...i've read countless of posts, ideas, opinions, etc here and i'm interested in your response.... ...there is a whole gamut of feelings here from individuals that are simply annoyed with the wt organization, to those that come off as hellbent on putting the org out of comission.... ...others yet seem to have made it their mission in life to eradicate the concept of god himself.... ...to any of these, what is your motivation?
and do you ever doubt that these efforts are futile?
do you feel that you posses the power/ability/means to change the convictions/faiths of the masses?

to any of these, what is your motivation?
What efforts? For me personally, I left. That's it. That's all I wanted to do. JWs can go about their business. I don't care what anyone believes.
However, my response isn't met with the same feelings. My mom feels it is necessary to 'bring me back to the fold' and to wash my mind of 'apostate beliefs'. When she asks me questions, I feel obligated to respond. After all, I should be able to express myself without fear of reproof. That's when the shit storm starts, and that's why I'm so personally involved. I don't want to be, but as that famous Godfather III line goes, "Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in".
At the end of the day, my efforts will be futile, as my mother is moving away because she can't stand to live with her dissident son. So, why bother? I don't know... there have been moments I made her think. I guess it gives me some hope, but I've resigned myself to the reality. She will leave, I will move on.
Oh, and I don't fully lay the blame on the religion; the blame is partially on her upbringing and life circumstances and her needy personality. I really pity that it had to come to this, but if she's die-hard committed to her relgion, I honestly don't want to keep her. She can go and do her thing, and I am free to do mine.

Why God created predators and beasts
by EndofMysteries inwhile i am waiting and taking a big break to sort everything out.
i thought i would share some very cool life and scientific things that were revealed in the scriptures.
have you ever wondered why god made beasts and predators?
-

Just though I would share that little bit that God revealed. Not me, HE did. When the truth of the bible is revealed, you will see how it's explanation of everything, science, the true prophecies, all of it is real. Goodnight.
Presumptuous. Arrogant.

Do You Realize That Almost EVERY Society Publication Is "Old Light" Now?
by minimus innow that the "faithful & discreet slave class" has become essentially the governing body since 1919, almost every publication is obsolete and useless!
(i know, they are useless)..... the fds doctrine is a core teaching unique to jehovah's witnesses and now i believe they will have to change all of their understandings that are recorded in the revelation climax book, ezekiel books---every prophetic book written by the society!.
-

...may i point out that this has already been done before? recall what preceeded the Revelation Climax book? what about the Daniel, Isaiah, Family, Greatest man, greatest teacher? how about the Watchtower? Awake? etc., etc....
...afraid the dramatics are unjustified my friend... - Elephant
Elephant, none of these changes concern you at all? None of this bears on an objective truth?

Rutherford's smear campaign (a must read)
by Leolaia inthere has been some interest recently about the moyle case, and how it may have set a precident in what became the society's disfellowshipping policy.
in july 1939, the chief legal counsel of the watchtower bible & tract society, olin r. moyle, resigned from his position in a protest over conditions at bethel and rutherford's mistreatment of workers.
he did not want to continue living under those conditions and he felt he could effect positive change for his brothers by taking such a stand.

Leolaia, when I have the time, I will read it with detail. For now, all I can say is many thanks. Someone has even posted it on reddit ex-jw (of course giving credit to you).
I always enjoy your scholarly and balanced posts. You present the info. as unbiased as possible and allow the reader to make an informed decision.

Was the Watchtower Right?
by Christ Alone inthis question is for atheists and believers.
what teachings do you think the watchtower got right and why?
do you still think they are right about the trinity?
-

Yes - when you die, that's it for you.
However, this is my personal opinion, and there is no way to validate this, as hypothetically speaking, it is possible for something to exist outside the universe undetectable to us without our knowledge. Our only method of inquiry is through our natural world, through our mind.

What Catholics mean is that scripture, taken in its whole, does not lead to error but leads to a truer understanding of our relationship with God. This is true when, and only when, the tradition and teaching of the Church are taken into account. The claim of truth is limited to God's plan for human salvation. - Sulla
Ahh... here we go at the heart of the matter. Catholicism is tradition, plain and simple.
Since Adam and Eve weren't real, what exactly do humans need salvation for? What are we to be "saved" from?
