On a separate note, I read the posts about Larry Graham...I was a JW in the Oakland, CA area. I saw him and his family members regularly at conventions at the Oakland Coliseum. Never saw him 'whisked around' with an entourage, he would mill about just like everyone else and sat in the general seating like others. Maybe because he grew up in the bay area, he was more comfortable than in other cities where he had more of the 'starlike' quality.
When he was espied at Dodger's, he wasn't being 'whisked around with an entourage'. He just looked liked like he was trying to get the hell up outta there, and a bunch of 'brothers and sisters' gave the appearance of mobbing him as they pursued him to his car, LoL.

Disassociated
by Euphemism ini just found out that the elders announced meia's and my disassociation at the service meeting this week.
they'd called me on monday and told me that they were going to; i fired off an appeal letter the next day, and hadn't heard anything, so i thought they might have postopned the announcement.
i just found out, however, that the meeting was held on monday this week because the other congregation had the co's visit.

Religious e-mail violates town rule
by Smyler injudy strege wrote a "dear mayor" e-mail to dunn from her town office... dunn said strege approached him in a parking lot on new year's day when he was talking to a television crew about the city smoking ordinance... she has been active in jehovah's witnesses for 40 years.. .
what an outstanding citizen, using city computers and while working for the city, trys ministers to the mayor!
maybe its a blessing from jehovah so she will lose her job and be able to pioneer!.

Some things that aggravate me are:
When the jelly is put back in the fridge with the lid unscrewed.
When the jelly jar has traces of peanut butter inside it.
When a milk carton is put back into the fridge EMPTY.
When an EMPTY ice tray is put back in the freezer.

The film, Felicia's Journey has a JW-like character who actually uses pictures from the Live Forever book in her presentations.

I feel that to be a foolish generalization.
I'd have to agree with James T there.
I can tell you why I think my mother became one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She wanted to the chance to meet Larry Graham at Dodger's Stadium.
Okay, that's not really why.
The people that 'studied' with her showed her extraordinary
kindness and love. She was at a point in her life where she
was extremely vulnerable to their 'attentions'. They swept her
off her feet! The love-bombing made her feel as though she were being
embraced by the family she never had. With JWs, she finally had what she'd been searching for all her
life: to be accepted and loved. There were other reasons, but
those were the main ones, I think.(While she never did get to shake Bro. Graham's hand, she was
able to catch a glimpse of him at a District Convention, as he
hurried away from a throng of witnesses a la "A Hard Day's Night")
