Sunday notes at the District Convention: Avoid an independent spirit!
by truthseeker infinally i am free.
i wandered outside the convention around mid-afternoon, returning for the concluding song, so i didn't get to hear "summary of the botchtower" nor the final talk (which gets all the seals clapping).. .

Up to our elbows in Newbs on JWD
by IP_SEC inwow, what's going on here?
i look at all the new folk here that seem to have joined in the past 2 months and are posters who are under 100 posts and i gotta wonder why.. has something happened in dubland recently to cause a lot of folk to reach out?
if you are new here at jwd, how did you find us?

I'm really looking forward to see the annual report of JWD published in a thread on January, 1.
Perhaps listed countrywise , so we will see what countries have the greatest increase, average of apostafests, newbies and posts...

Questions You Will Not Hear during Daniel Book Study
by VM44 inblondie's continuing series "comments you will not hear at the watchtower study" always is more interesting than the actual watchtower article bering studied that week.
the research she adds is accurate and puts the study article in the proper perspective it deserves.. when will the weekly book study start the daniel book?
we need a new series "questions you will not hear during the daniel book study" akin to blondie's series on the watcthower.. think it would be a good idea?.

So as Sister Blondie is already serving as Watchtower Study Overseer, who is going to be appointed Congregation Book Study Overseer in the JWD congregation?

Just As A Matter Of Curiosity..........
by hillary_step injust as a matter of curiosity i was wondering if any of you know of anybody who has read raymond franz' 'crisis of conscience' and who actually remained a jw?
i have sent and lent this book to a number of people within the wts, even a co, all of whom left eventually.
one person remained due to domestic issues, but resigned from all his duties and remains as such.

I read parts of it in books I thought to be unconspicuous in the local library at the time of my baptism as a teenager. I was not shocked at all, it confirmed to me, that the experiences of family members, who had more contacts to higher-ups were evidently not made up, but true. So I was used to a certain degree of critical approach in the post-75 era.
Over the years i made my own experiences with the imperfections of the organization, reading eventually the whole of CoC, joining this board, which nonetheless didn't stop me from my belief in God and the fact that he uses an organization. Evidently no perfection can be found anywhere, but personally I didn't find any alternative.
So I try to do my part to live the Bible's principles and apply some of the quite excellent suggestions in the magazines, (nice ones in this week's Watchtower study...) though it is hard to do so if you have to deal with the average-minded elder...; but the ideals are good and people will need 1000+ years to get where they ought to be in the first place.
