jehovah's witnesses refute!

"the heart of the righteous one.
Only a JW could quote this . . .
Accordingly his days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years.” (Genesis 6:3) The issuance of this divine decree in 2490 B.C.E. marked the beginning of the end for that ungodly world. Just think what that meant for those then living! Only 120 years more and Jehovah would bring “the deluge of waters upon the earth to bring to ruin all flesh in which the force of life is active from under the heavens.” - Genesis 6:17 ...
What about us? Some 90 years have passed since the last days of this system of things began in 1914. We are certainly in “the time of the end.” (Daniel 12:4) How should we respond to warnings we have been given?
A nd then say this . . .
In the parallel with Noah's days we see no basis to apply the 120 years that God placed between the start of that "time of the end" on our "time of the end".
The whole purpose of the parallel is a timing issue regarding the two global mass slaughters. Why even mention time spans if no comparison is being made? The inference is clear, and WT doctrine needs at least approximate dates to high-octane the fear effect. They're essential . . . who of us weren't controlled by these very specific time frames?
I think most unbiased observers would see a fairly weak application a very narrow "plausible deniability" window. He will generate an unintended negative effect as already mentioned. Bullshit of this calibre is best left to experts, who are probably wise enough to say nothing.
no doubt ray franz is at the top.... paul grundy's web site jwfacts.com helped me the most!
thanks paul!!!.
randall watters from freeminds.org has got to be way up there.... who else?
Rick Fearon . . . no question.
the entire time i was gone it was nagging at me.
i hadn't been previously baptized, so leaving wasn't that big a deal.
now i'm back in the swing of it, going to all meetings and field service.
no more no more no more no more?
the entire time i was gone it was nagging at me.

Pascal's wager in action . . . fascinating.
The only problem Jake . . . is that it's a nice brown chip that can never be cashed up.
"What if" is a terrible reason to make any major decision. You have been intellectually lazy for the past 10 years and now you are about to pay the price. . . . cofty
That about sums it up . . . looks like Jake's a goneburger . . . or a troll.
if anyone was under the illusion that all baptized jw children become dedicated solely of their own volition, then hopefully this new video should be a wake-up call.. .

(unfortunately, due to the soundtrack i've chosen, this video is apparently banned in germany.
If each new model of Anthony Morris is an improvement . . . then versions I and II must have been seriously fucked up.
It's appropriate he compares it to having a drivers licence . . . as motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death among teenagers in the USA and no doubt most, if not all, developed countries.
Obtaining a driving licence is becoming increasingly difficult, and calls to raise the age of eligibility are only rejected because many at this age are income earning TAXPAYERS who need to drive to earn. So the motivation for setting the driving age so young is financial . . . not the well-being of the teenagers. How ironic!
Recent studies have shown that teenagers are still undergoing frontal lobe development and lack the appropriate levels of judgement and attentiveness needed to drive safely . . . the precise same reason why a life-long commitment to a high-control religious organisation is entirely inappropriate for a teenager.
For a Mk III idiot . . . he makes an excellent comparison, although unwittingly I suspect.
i am using reopened mind site because we have company for the week and i can't get to my computer because it is connected to our tv.

TotallyADD . . . nice to hear from you. Trusting all is well with you both.
A 300 pound 60 yr old JW eh? . . . those organic vegies must be very tasty.
I was a keen organic gardner . . . used a lot of blood-and-bone fertiliser. Then I learned it was a disfellowshipping offence and that was it for organic gardening . . . I became an N-P-K man.
He strikes me as a faithful JW who religiously follows the examples of his superiors . . . and just makes shit up as he goes along.
i was just thinking about how often i prayed when i was going downhill.. now i subscribed wholeheartedly to the 'don't pray for bullshit requests' concept, so at first i rarely prayed.. starting around middle school, 9/10 i prayed for friends.
didn't really pray to stop the teasing, my fists did some of that and besides...racism isn't/wasn't jehovah's fault anyway and i can't pray for that to end when he allowed the witnesses to suffer in ww2.. through high school, same issue and then when i started pioneering and hanging out with some of the other witnesses, those prayers prayers for friends intensified cuz they were asses.. but they were dominated by the prayers to love god starting around 15. i didn't want to read the magazines, despite how much i love reading.
didn't want to stdy the lessons, didn't want to plan my presentations, though i did enjoy giving the talks and crafting them.
Good thread . . .
Phizzy's analogy caught my eye . . .
A negative can be proved, I go back to my old Piggy Bank example.
I do not believe there is any money in it. A negative. I smash it open, being unconviced of the negative by merely shaking it, and I find no money, I see no money , cannot feel any money, and above all, cannot spend that money that "evidently" does not exist.
To extend the analogy . . . I personally hesitate to say "there is no money". It's more like "there is no money in this particular piggy bank."
My Atheism is simply a rejection of all current claims as to the existence and nature of God, and the various theistic beliefs that comprise the worlds religions. I reject them utterly, and have nothing with which to replace them. If that warrants a label, then Atheist is fine with me, as long as it divorces me from religion. If one of these God's did happen to show up, then I would shift neatly from rejecting the concept, to rejecting the entity anyway. None are worthy of worship.
I can't speak for Atheists in general . . . but I've never heard one say definitively "there is no God" . . . only that the evidence for traditional religious viewpoints is lacking, and that the concept is extensively logically flawed, and therefore rejected. You can't establish facts completely, based on a lack of evidence . . . but you can reject specious claims on the same basis. Such is the natural consequence of critical thinking . . . it disproves much more than it can ever unequivocally establish.
i got up early, did some work, went to the market and got some fresh ground italian sausage, went to the farmers market and picked up some locally grown organic tomatoes and cantaloupes, went home, made fresh pasta sauce from the tomatoes and some herbs from my garden, made dinner, decanted a bottle of red zinfandel, had dinner with a lovely woman, sat on the couch with some wine and fresh fruit and watched corialanus, spent some quality time together, then cleaned the kitchen and dished and now i am watching tom waits on david letterman.. i seriously considered playing golf today, but fresh made pasta sauce was more important.. i didn't worry about jesus at all.
am i evil?
i may have committed a biblical sin after dinner and a movie, if that matters..
I'm not quick to judge anyone . . . perish the thought.
So, I'll need some more details about this after-dinner sin you committed . . . namely all of them.
ive been lurking for quite sometime and now feel the need to come and noob it up.
it's taken a lot to bring me to read anything critical of the wts.
i used to glance at these apostate sites and shutter in fear because of the obvious demonic venom that can be found :) i am still an active witness and have been in this struggle to stay both in and be removed mentally from this organization.
When you've seen the man behind the curtain and mentally opt out . . . it then hits you as to how highly controlled it all is.
